Glitter - Poofer is a big mess! Empty Glitter - Poofer is a big mess!

Post by cattsy Thu Jul 21, 2011 4:33 pm

I recently bought a poofer bottle, and some irridescent fairy glitter, thinking that they looked so cool. Watching videos people make it look so easy (Like Clayton, from Marvelous Masks)

Well, I suck, apparently. The glitter seems to go everywhere but where it should! Is it technique? Am I just doing something wrong?

Seems easier to pat it on :s

Any tips or tricks for using a poofer?

I had the same problem when i started using the poofer bottle because i would squeeze it, Sad ... but now i just kind of hold it up and shake it over the design so it will be evenly distributed

I agree with you completely.

I hold the bottle between my thumb and middle finger and tap the bottom with my index. Seems to do the trick and waste less glitter.

LOL I am horrible at apply glitter with a poofer. Sometimes it goes on fine and other times, it's all over their clothes! I usually have the child tilt their head up and it works much better Smile

Make sure you do it straight away. It wont catch on tacky paint... it has to be wet. If I paint the whole base of a rainbow butterfly before i glitter only one side will stick... the rest just bounces off and goes everywhere... it's a royal pain in the rear. I do one wing - glitter and the other wing and then glitter again.
I have less trouble with Paradise.... but Tag and DFX dry so quick that usually I have to push the glitter into the tacky paint with my finger.

I've started cupping my hand under their cheek while I'm poofing away - I just cringe at what the parents might think of that glitter everywhere. Sometimes tapping works, sometimes squeezing...nothing works all the time. I'm thinking of making a little reverse funnel or something! As rapidly as I work, I can't stand the extra seconds trying to get a kid to understand tilting the head back. Yes I have ADD : D
