I NEED your opinion on a fair donation PLEASE!!

I did a small county fair Thurs,Fri,&sat. They hadn't had a painter before so neither of us knew what to expect.When I asked about a fee ,I was told if it was a bust because of weather or what ever there was no fee ,but if I did good then I could give a donation to the fair.I did OK-for the 3 day I brought home over $500 ( - the food and pony rides for my kids the first day-not a great Idea on my part) my last festival I did about the same (got rained out 2 of the 4 days)and payed a $50.00 fee.
Do you think $50.00 is a good donation to the fair or my other idea was to donate my time to make some signs for the fair's food booth.??
maybe it is just me ,but when I went to get food I had to walk way up to the wall to read their food list on a piece of paper, I ended up going to the other vendor with big signs and his tailor had pics of all the yummy looking fried food all over it.

So what do you think should I offer to make signs or just donate $50 ????( a different amount??)

$50 is 10% of what you made, so I would say that is a reasonable donation. If you feel like you want to do the signs to help out that is a good idea too, but I wouldn't offer it as the donation in place of cash. let's be honest- everyone wnats the cash! But you could offer to format some signs/banners and give them the info for where to get them printed themselves.

Thank you. I was recently asked to contribute 25% which is still less than I am currently paying. LOL

I always offer 10% in lieu of a booth fee if possible. 25% is saved for charity events I paint. I always remind the organizers that I am a draw and provide entertainment, rather than positioning myself as a regular vendor who sells items.
