Painting the eyes
I see all these beautiful eye designs or cool dragon eyes and I try them but when I paint my eyes they feel really sticky and end up creasing or messing up the design.
Is it the paint (Wolfe & Diamond FX for example) or that I'm applying it too thick? Everyone's designs on the web look so beautiful and they do it a lot.
I did powder my eyes last night but it was just a regular body powder so it wouldn't be good for jobs. Would starblend white work on colors?
I'm so glad you folks are here. I appreciate your help.

Re: Painting the eyes
You must be putting it on either too thick or too wet. Try using a little less and blend
Re: Painting the eyes
I find that painting my own eyes never looks as good as when I'm painting someone else's. The key is to not have your paint too wet and apply as little as possible and still get the job done. Once you've got the paint down, it is key that you keep your eyes closed until the paint is dry. This allows it to set so that it won't be messed up when you open your eyes or blink.
When painting other people, I paint the eyes as soon as possible and then have them keep their eyes closed for the rest of the painting and finally have them open their eyes for the reveal.

Also, make sure that there is no regular makeup or cream on your eyes when you paint.
What I usually do before painting my eyes is put a dab of moisturizer on them and rub it in. Once the moisturizer is completely absorbed, then I paint. I actually started doing this because I had problems at first, but now I have no problem at all. Using the moisturizer beforehand also helps it wash off a bit easier.

Re: Painting the eyes
I tried blending better yesterday and it seemed to work. Lasted for hours and didn't bug me as much. I haven't tried black liner yet but I'll try making it a little thinner and drying it more.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Painting the eyes
The Wolfe/DFx paint type that you're using is probably the best for the eyes because you can get away with the least amount of water for pigment payoff. I also agree with Punky, I have an easier time doing eyes on someone else where I can watch the whole process with both eyes open than on my own where I have to sneak peeks and end up creasing the makeup before it dries.
Re: Painting the eyes
I have to paint w/ my eyes 1/2 opened to keep from creasing. It's harder for me as I have more overlap than most people. It takes some prectice, but once you get used to it, it'll get easier. Less water works best.
