I love to do flowers of all kinds. One of the most popular ones that I do is a princess halo with daisy's. I have all kinds of brands of paint and use all kinds of split cakes. But, I was curious to know what other people use. I have seen some very pretty white pink, purple and pink, and blue and pink daisy flowers from various people and wondered if I am missing some great epiphany on split cakes somewhere???

is there a perfect brand split for painted daisies?

For daisy's I load a short round brush with the lighter color 1st & then load the tip with the darker color. No splits involved. I sometimes have to reload as I go. I find DFX White makes a great lighter color & the DFX metallics make a bold darker color.

Do you find that the white makes your other paints muddy? I hardly mix mine cause I worry about making my cakes look messy...am I just being OCD about it?

I do the same thing and the lighter color doesn't really effect my cake that much. You can see the circle where I loaded it, but it wipes right of with one swipe of a sponge. I use Paradise and TAG mainly, but I've also done it with Kryolan, Wolfe, DFX, and Snazaroo with no problems.

I had the same problem at first. Took me a while to find a solution. Just wipe down the other cake with a damp paper towel after you have finished painting the daisies. It takes off all of the white and leaves the cake looking clean.

Is there anything in a baby wipe that would hurt the paint? If you use a non scented wipe would that be okay?

I use wipes all the time........ I go through them like water.
I figure if it's good enough for parents use on the kids faces then it's good enough for my paints.
That said there were only one or two brands I could use on my kid when she was little as she would get a rash from anything synthetic.
I use Johnson and Johnson 's sticky fingers. I swear by them, they aren't as cheap as you regular wipes but those suckers can even wipe my makeup off my clothes! and I use half as much to clean twice as much as regular wipes, they do have non-scented type but I use the scented ones cause they smell so nice and refreshing... and get rid of all the icky things on kids faces in one wipe.
