Books for beginners

Hi. I am new to face painting and I have been watching the tutorials but I also would like to buy more books. I bought a Wolfe brothers book but they didn't have a very detailed description and when I got it the paintings are a little intimidating. What books would you suggest for a beginner?

the Usborne face painting book gives step by step instructions for all the basic faces. You might even be able to find it in your library... it is very basic, so you'll outgrow it fast, but it's a great place to start

The Klutz books that you can pic up in most any craft store and it comes with paints. It is a very basic book for beginners as far as some of the photos (but that could be a good things as you will be less intimidated to try them), but they do go over some of the basics you will need to know like sponging on a base, shading, and doing linework swirls and curls.

There are a few beginner videos/dvds as well something else to consider

Do a search on Amazon or Barnes and Noble they carry a few of the books that might interest you

I agree with changing I started with the Klutz book great for beginners

Back when i started - 8 years ago face paint was not as readily available for the beginner. So I went through six clutz books just for the paint.

I really like the Marcella Murad books. There are 4 steps per design. Each step is a sketched type picture so you get the idea but not stroke for stroke. The flip side has the finished design.

I second Shannon's book....(my first one too) great step by step & explanations on how she does the designs & techniques. Her book is geared toward the beginner.

The Wolfe Brothers' books are awesome to look at, but the designs are not real practical at your typical B-day party or corp picnic because they are so detailed and not really for a beginners.

I agree with fancy faces. I like to mama clown books. There are 4-5 different book each with 20 or so design. I figured each book would have maybe 2 designs I liked but surprisingly, out of the 2 I have, I like almost all of the designs. They are very quick and easy and a lot of them you can add and change and make your own once you get more comfortable.
