Post by AudreyG Thu Dec 30, 2010 10:40 pm

I was looking at the "kit" section last night because I have been trying to find something to put all my paints in. I had a scrapbooking storage "thingy" that I was using..it was super cute but I have slightly out grown it but I am addicted to buying all the different colors and cakes! Anyhow, as I was looking yesterday at the kit category I saw everyone talking about the FatMax. Today I went and bought me one and set it up thinking that I maybe wouldnt need a huge table now!! I was so happy I got inspired and painted a design out of the Mark Reid Cats book that I have! Thanks for sharing all of this info everyone...especially for a newbie like me!!

Hey Audrey! Can't wait to see it. Very Happy In the text box, there's an icon just above the box that looks like a photo and floppy disc (6th from the left). You can click that to upload your photo (browse and find it on your computer) and then save the link they give you. After that you can click the photo icon (7th from left) and copy the link there to put it in your post. Hope this helps!

I just painted on the white and used an arty cake for the colors. Done some outlining and the blended it a tiny bit into the white and that was it. Definately not even close to the amazing one in the Mark Reid book!! But thanks!! Smile

I'm still super new but one thing I've learned is that depending on the design, the blending can make all the difference and hide alot of imperfections! I still need blending practice...you have this down pat! Unsure what Mark Reid's looks like, but this is very pretty. I'm noticing more and more that some people are starting out with a white background like you did....I'm thinking I should do this more often. Seems to help the colors 'pop' more than I originally thought!

OH...and on a side note, I'm jelous of your fatmax! Laughing

Nice case. It reminds me of one that's around... I think... $400 being sold in the face painting market. Not sure who does it... I saw the price tag & looked away quickly.

Beautiful tiger!

PaintandGlamour - tell us more about the table!

Is it just like Dawn's "Artist on the Go" table? Did you make it from scratch? Can you pretty pretty pretty please show us the rest of the table?

Psalm- for what it's worth I have only heard excellent things from folks who bought the table. I might get one - I feel awkward carrying my table and chair and backpack... and design board ...ahem,

It's SO TRUE!! I actually feel like a little girl, nose pressed up against a virtual store window right before Christmas with the snow gently falling behind me gazing in longing wonder at the bright and shining display of Fatmax, Tag and Arty cakes - metalix paints all lit up and glowing with promise.....just waiting for me to take them home and play.....and sighing...knowing Santa won't be bringing me those for Christmas.

BUT I KNOW that they will be mine! I will work hard and be a GOOD GIRL and someday...sooner than later, I will have a Fatmax of my very own to love!!

Hi Audry,
that cat looks awesome and so does your blending. I'm fairly new myself but my blending still needs a lot more practice. Smile
and regarding the kit, I found a great craft bag yesterday that fits nearly everything, I have pics in my album in case anyone is interested to see.

Really nice bag! So neat and tidy! Does it come with a shoulder strap though? It looks like the handles are almost too short when your palette is in the middle, but pix are funny like that...I can't really tell. Looks nice though.....I would be attacking that with fabric paint in a heartbeat!! Laughing

It was 50% off yesterday at Michaels, I payed 17.50$ plus tax. they had it in black and brown with a kind of giraffe pattern. It does not have a shoulder strap but the handles are big enough that you can hold it either if the palette is packed with the long side or the short side up. I believe it would even fit two palettes in the middle.

beautiful cat Audry.....I definitely see the Mark Reid charactistics in it. I LOVE his cats!!I have noticed one thing he does and that's to put a strong solid color below the eyes, I think that's what makes them "pop"!! I'm a rookie also, but you did a FABULOUS job!!
