Thanks for bringing up this thread again. Never thought of pretty snakes for the girls!
Tried to do an "in n out" design here but it looks more like he was hacked up by a machete!!!

Here's one I ran across on facebook (Gaenor White)
I love this one Gina. It works well with the 3-D leaf cake because the white and black are built right in. I've got to work on mine to make it look as scary as hers but I already like it.
Re: Show us ya snake!!
This is a snake I tried recently (my son was very clear he didn't want a tongue... normally I'd add a forked snake's tongue coming out of the mouth!). I'd do different stripes too, but you get the general idea!:
Re: Show us ya snake!!
OMGoodness. Your son is a future heart-breaker, darkling. How nice that he's letting you paint him. Get some good shots before he won't do it anymore.

Thanks Denise! He earns extra pocket money by letting me practise on him
Kumi, I love the markings on your snake - it looks awesome!

luks like a gigantic slug lol....but anyway there it is.....and it wouldn't have to be that big on a kid or with that many slits in between.....

Re: Show us ya snake!!
So I've been doing this one for about a year.
I discovered Gold works best for highlighting and the bam reptile stencil works great on them too. After awhile I started adding Pashur inspired spiders to them too.

Re: Show us ya snake!!
this is snake skin texture I have been playing with. Could also work for monster and dragon skin too. What do you think?

You can add more detail (teeth, diamonds, blood, shadow) based on the 'stillness' level
LOVE THIS! going in my inspiration book
