Post by Mandi from Tazzie Mon May 24, 2010 7:28 pm

Hi all,

I have an opportunity to do some body painting on a girlfriend. I have never done any body painting before just face. Can anyone please explain about the use of nipple covers are they essential??

Thanks, Mandi

Depends. What are your nudity laws? Are you going to be in public? Do you want to use the photos in public?

I've painted models in Europe without them, but in North America always with them.

Oh, ok. Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking that they were needed to make the painting application easier over the nipple.

? Well, not really. It actually is a bit of a pain as the light reflects differently off of the material that the nipple cover is made of and can really make a mess of the photos - they then need to be photoshopped to get rid of the nipple covers!

And you only need to worry about it being cold... then you may have a problem getting full coverage with the paint Nipple covers Icon_eek

Thanks for the info Shannon. This will be a private session mainly for me to have a go at something I haven't tried yet and my friend does do nude modelling for art classes & a photographer. The photographer suggested they get creative with their next session so that's where I step in to paint.

I just met a body painter on facebook that uses fabric tape to cover the nipples, he cuts the tape in square shapes. Paint seemed to go over the tape very well and it will not hurt the person you are painting, and It is easy to remove, not to mention a lot cheaper than buying pasties!!

What else besides pasties and fabric tape would be good to cover the nipples???? Hmmmmmmm

I just did my first body painting at this jam we had last weekend. It was 5 of us painters and we left it up to the models if they wanted pasties or not. The model I painted wanted to go all natural so I didn't get a chance to try painting over a pastie. But they had some medical nude colored tape that worked well.

Good luck!! Have fun! Smile

I got my first chance at painting over the "fancy" nipple covers in class this week, and I prefer no pasties. It's way easy to photo-shop them out for posting online.

It totally depends where you are - it changes from city to city/ evnt to event.
Some ody events they HAVE to be worn, some not. Same for public events around the UK/ Hong Kong I have done.
Check 1st.
TBH I find using them easier as there are more things I can then use the photos for without complaint/ worry.

I prefer Body FX's sculptured breast covers if there is a budget for it - paintable moulded foam latex glued on even for dancers stays well. If not, ebay/ fashion stores/ chemists sell nipple covers - is a certain brand I prefer but have not been able to get more of them at the mo.

I & most models I have had HATED the reuseable pro cover (or whatever they were called) flat rond latex (?) ones, uncomfy and look odd.

TBH I often incorporate stuff into the design to cover the stickers...

And be creative; using the same pro adhesive I use for the Body FX covers/ body glitter tatts, I have cut bits out of bras, clothing, fabric and stuck them over.....

I just found covers last week at the dollar store, and I just about bought every one they had! I'm sure the cashier wondered about me, as I would need saucer sized to adequately my girls, but I have some outdoor paintings lined up, ooh, TMI?

I also learned about using, and of course my memory issues are back, but I think it's micropore medical tape you can only get from a medical supply shop. I'm gonna get a roll of that and try it out too. Way cheaper.

And I also discovered, through ModelMayhem, using fascinators. I guess they are used in women's hat making, but they work really well as pasties.
