I am in HEAVEN!!! DFX Metallics Empty I am in HEAVEN!!! DFX Metallics

Post by Clayton Mon Mar 08, 2010 6:57 pm

I ordered my paints last Thursday or Friday. I got the DFX Metallix pallet so I could try out all the metallix.

I. AM. IN. LOVE!!!!!

All I can say is wow! The coverage is incredible! They go on so easily! While I think I'll stick with my wofe gold and paradise silver, the rest of them are phenomenal, especially that violet. I have been looking and looking for a purple I like with no luck, until now.

The green is amazing too, plus it comes off easier than the paradise metallic green, so now I don't have to feel guilty when I use it. I love the blue too, and the red. I am so happy with these. I still have two cakes of wolfe metallic blue, but I'll be getting DFX when that runs out.

Again... couldn't be happier.

I changed my mind about the silver. I will have to have both paradise and DFX silver in my case. The difference between the two is very noticeable. The DFX is brighter and shinier, and they blend together so well; perfect for a two toned metal look.

The gold... there isn't a significant difference between DFX and Wolfe

Acutally, I've only ever tried DFX and Snaz, so I'm not one to persuade anyone, but I'm happy you like em.

I still love the paradise paints I do have, except for that horrible yellow, but I am definitely loving these colors. I can't wait for my order to get here!

Yes, the DFX metal colours are addicting! Including the new metal ones, like old gold, baby blue and bronze (I also really like the copper, but I have not found a use for it yet).

I have sent this message to TAG and will let you know if I get a response:

Hiya,

I was wondering why the rainbow cakes, neon, regular and metallix are in a different order than is considered "traditional" in America? I looked up to see if the Aussie rainbow was in a different order to no avail.

Traditionally ours are red, yellow, green, blue, purple. I have just had some comment that they order bugs them and they don't want to buy them.

For the traditional I tell them that it is actually two rainbows in one if they don't use red then it is a tropical, if they don't use pink it is a traditional(sort of). But with the neon and pearl, I don't really have an answer.

Just curious.

My metallic rainbow beside a traditional rainbow......thinking now I should have painted a neon rainbow so you could really see the difference between them side by side

I just checked out some pics of real rainbows, and was surprised by how different they can look depending on the lighting. Sometimes the red/pink/purple do seem out of order or just not there at all. Here's one that looks pretty close to the metallic rainbow cake.

The traditional, scientific rainbow spectrum is:
ROYGBIV: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.
I think this is the issue.
Depending on the boldness of a rainbow all the colors might not be visible, but all rainbows, worldwide are the same Very Happy

i made a metallic rainbow cake like changing but used pink instead of red

people say don't use red around they eyes maybe that is why tag put it on the other side of the purple

I agree with Barb. I bought the DFX regular rainbow cake and cut it up to make different splits because with the purple on the inside of a butterfly it looks like a bruise over the eye and I am afraid with all of the info not to put red over the eye to use it that way. I like the metallic TAG rainbow cake I have. The pink is much softer over the eye and I guess safer to use. I don't think the kids mind it and they find it awesome enough, although so far I haven't done any butterflies with it, just the circles with a mop for peace signs and they don't get all the colors together for that anyway.

Yes, but usually the issue is... where does pink go? You can use pink instead of red, before red, or after violet because of the color WHEEL. When mixing them you get red-orange-yellow-green-blue-purple-red (again.)
I am in HEAVEN!!! DFX Metallics Color_wheel

...but I guess the question is, how does each country REPRESENT the rainbow.

I still thinks the TAG rainbows are lovely, but can see how the different order can bother some. I say make the best of a quality product and as Gina has shone, it is very nice!

Gina, I like your designs. One of the most popular I've done, if not the most popular is a peace sign made with a mop in my metallic rainbow cake. The girls can choose which color combo they want because the mop is smaller than the rainbow cake. They think it looks tye dyed. I do it with my neon rainbow cake also.

when I do butterflies i let the kids pick the color or depending what they are wearing.. they rarely pick the triditional rainbow cake.. mose of the time its pastels or the neon...neon looks great with the opaque glitter tones it down a bit

I have the tag neon rainbow cake and love it.
It isn't the order of it like starting with red that bugs me but I like the colors to have the order that they have on the color wheel. It is the orange that I find out of place for some reason LOL
I would love for my rainbow to start with a yellow, then orange, then red (in the middle far from the eye Smile) then I would add pink, purple, blue and green.
Maybe I can skip the red.
