Rolling Cooler for Kit? Empty Rolling Cooler for Kit?

Post by Who B What E Wed May 29, 2013 6:50 pm

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried using one of those rolling coolers for a kit? I saw a nice one at Big Lots, it was a 60 can capacity one, square, with a handle that you could pull it along. I wanted one that you could use as a seat as well, but it said not to sit on the lid. No I thought it would be big enough to hold all the stuff in my kit and for a bonus, it would keep my paints cooler in the car on a hot day. Hate the look and weight of a Fat Max and not sure the guitar case thing would work for me, too heavy. Any thoughts?

I keep my balloons at home stored in one. Seems like a pain for paint as you have to set up each time & they are white inside, which for me wouldn't be fr long... How about a rolling computer case (they usually have them at Goodwill pretty cheap.)

you know, when i started that was my first 'kit' and I tell you, not so much with the good idea. Whenever I would get to my painting location everyone would look at me weird. Come to find out, they thought I had bought a cooler full of drinks and food to the party...... lol.......................... Nope! just my paint

I bought the 42 can cooler from Walmart for $30. Its insulating fabric on outside with plastic container on inside that holds the shape. Has lots of pockets and top is separate, so I put cold pack in top and my drink, stays cool for about 5 hours and so far there hasn't been any condensation building up in bottom area where I store my paints, brushes, water, etc. The 42 can size gives me room for Q-tips, paints, 20ish sponges, alcohol that I spray paints and brushes with, paper towels, trash bag, mirror, and even my design books. I put brushes in pouch on front along with my business cards.

For $30 it does what I need starting out. I'm starting to look for something more like a makeup case though with bigger wheels, and weatherproof. Got worried this week when I was caught in a monsoon lol.

I actually use a travel bag. The zipper opens and has pouches on it, where I keep my hand sanitizer and extra neons (that I rarely use). I've also unpotted all my paints and put them into a bead case (three) as the  individual boxes were solid at the bottom. I make my own split cakes and usually only have special sponge size one strokes floating around with my big wolfe white and black. At the very bottom is my paint box (like the one LJY has). In the front pouch is where I keep my glitter mark/gels (that I can't stand!!!) and the sides is where I keep my inspiration books and mirrors. Although I would love to find a never able to break mirror as I have busted more in the last year than I'd care to think about. And it doesn't matter where I  put them either...sigh.  I used to have a big long skinny mirror that I packed for my PPF events along the table and chairs. Yeah that lasted a total of two months. But it sure was nice to be able to say to the child, ok hun, go look....leaving my chair open for the next kid. Anyone have a clue where to get a light weight non breakable mirror?? lol...let me know if you see the pic https://servimg.com/view/18407866/1

IKEA sells unbreakable acrylic mirrors in the children's section. There is an arched closing mirror with inner pockets. There is a children's full length mirror with a soft squishy alligator running along the length of the mirror. There is a smaller rectangular mirror with foamy, swirly splotches of blobby shapes around it (I know my description doesn't sound very accurate. When you see it you will know it). There is no way to stand the mirror up because if the blobby swirls.

Science stores sell unbreakable mirrors.

Happy Painting!
