Guitar Case Woes...... Empty Guitar Case Woes......

Post by MelindaT0813 Mon Apr 29, 2013 9:16 pm

WHERE TO BEGIN!!!!?!!??!?!

I have decided that I hate my fatmax enough that I would like to convert a guitar case into my new kit.

that being said...... I feel very lost on where to begin.

Why is there not a tutorial on this yet?

I would use a rifle case preferably molded plastic so it will hold up in the long run...Pelican makes one with wheels--an investment, but with a lifetime guarantee.

I found the case that Annie recommended - http://www.casesbypelican.com/pelican_1700.htm

Seems like the biggest issue to me would be keeping my items in a somewhat upright position - still those look like AWESOME cases. You want to attach legs, right? Ikea has folding legs that you could attach.

I too think the rifle case annie has would be great...and you would not have to gut it out and then redo the insides...the gun cases have foam in them so you can put you paints in then the foam when you travel.

Guitar Case Woes...... Empty Re: Guitar Case Woes......

I took out the foam & replaced it with black exercise mats from Walmart (about $12) cut to fit. On those I placed strips of the soft side of the velcro. (The hook side I cut into smaller squares & stuck them on the bottom of my paint pots. (I switched all colors to Wolfe pots for uniformity--it takes 5 across from back to front--but will onlyflat do 4 of other brands than Paradise/Wolfe).
I found a black desk organizer that fits at the far end to organize my clutter
(stencils, glitter, split cakes, etc.) My water (a rectangular one larger than what I have in my rather old avatar) fits in between. My brush folder open & lay flat on top of a black terry towel when I pack up.

Hope that helps...

Is the kit in your picture a guitar case?
It seems rather large!

No it's a Pelican 2-rifle case w/ wheels It's held up so well that I would not hesitate to buy one off craigslist & know it would last.
