Confused.. How much to charge???

Hi

I am very new to face painting. I have done 3 volunteer events/fairs do far. I did pretty good working for "free", as the tips were not bad at all and I had a blast!

However one PTA mom asked me if I would be interested coming and painting kids faces at an event held at her school. She explained there would be 400 kids. And asked how much I would charge. I have NO idea what one would charge for such an event.

I am open to any and all suggestions

Are you sure she doesn't want you to do pay-per-face? That's how our PTA does it around here. I pay a booth fee. $25, and that is awesome.

Ahhh.. Interesting.. Maybe she does, I hadnt considered that.

Easy to find out. Ask how much the booth fee is.

Wait, wait--don't volunteer to do a booth fee, it is much better to charge her an hourly rate. (You want to be their painter of choice next year also!) You could find out what prces may be in your area for beginners, and go with what you feel comfortable asking. Include all your expenses--travel, insurance, supplies...

Is there anyone who FPs near you--400 is a crowd, you could probably build someone else in also!

I think it would be difficult to determine a final quote for 400 people when going with the hourly rate... It is way better but there's no way you'll be able to paint that many people, and they won't all want to be painted. I would maybe ask to set up for free and do PPF.

This is a PTA. They won't likely be PAYING anyone to paint. Usually, they are RAISING money, which means YOU pay.
Either a booth fee, or a percentage.

If the school was asking, I'd say give them your rates. That is not how the PTA works.

I've been hired by PTAs. Give them your rate.
