Re: best glue?
Shannon is correct, almost all the glue brands out there are just Pros-aide re-bottled and re-labeled. We did try the Y body pink glue for awhile for pool parties and I think it lasted longer but for twice the price it just isn't worth it so we're back to Amerikan body art Pros-aide

i bought my pros-aid II from an actual professional make up effects site for a good price, assuming that it was the same as the others. the moonlight kit came with this thick cream like glue that im sure is not pros- aide, and like i said it was very strong and lasted very long. it smells bad and i think it comes from china. in fact i found myself scrubbing my skin raw to get it off.

Re: best glue?
tulip glue last forever, I have to scrub my daughter's skin with a brush to remove it, but the glitter comes off really quick, I don't know if the glitter is the problem of the glue.
Re: best glue?

Re: best glue?
If it is the same glue we ought to do a co-op. I was really impressed with the sample that Misha sent me. In fact, I'd be willing to wear glitter tatts more myself if they lasted awhile. Would also be good to make glitter cones with. I'd like to experiment.

Re: best glue?
I'm up for that Denise! I usually put one on on the weekend and show it to parents on Thursday when I paint at the restaurant to show the longevity of glitter tattoos.
roscka, did you get your order yet? I know it took about 3 weeks for my kits to come it.

Re: best glue?
Hey folks, I'm going to bump this strand because I'm having problems with my glue, I use Glimmer in the nail-polish type bottles and applicator and though the glue is nice and fluid and goes on well, after it dries clear and I apply the glitter they just don't last.
The tattoo is gummy an comes right off in the shower (I tried today). I've had this glue since last year (my refill bottle doesn't have an expiration date) but I expected this problem toward the end of the summer at events and never got around to checking out on myself...two GT parties this weekend so time to think about it!
Things I've tried so far: 1) thinning out the glue with the tiniest bit of water so it goes on thinner and dries faster (saw that advice somewhere else on here) 2)dumping all the glue in one of my applicator bottles and starting over with stuff fresh from my refill bottle.
Both tattoos came right off in the shower! Are they really not waterproof right away? I'm applying the glue as thin as I can, is their a better applicator out their I should try? And, yes, I am letting the glue dry clear before applying the glitter. I'm open to any and all suggestions, including if I need to try a different brand, all though I hate to waste the glue I have.
Okay, thanks for any help!

Re: best glue?
I don't let the glue dry before I apply glitter, and I have good success with my tatts lasting. I use pros-aide that I buy in a large bottle from an Fx supply online store.
Re: best glue?
I don't let my glue dry either. I make sure to apply a sufficient amount of it while also not overdoing it and laying it on too thickly. After I apply the glitter, I press down all over the area to pack the glitter down into the glue. And my tattoos last on me anywhere from 4-10 days (the skin oil we make makes the difference - I think the monthly cycles account for the 4 or 10 days!). It's a good idea to wait about 15 minutes before jumping back in a pool or shower.

Re: best glue?
JJJJ, do you also use Pros-Aide?
Julie, how long do you tell the kids to wait for the glue to dry before they touch it or swim?
I'm also wondering if maybe I have a faulty sample when I try the tattoo on myself, I use a heavy moisturizer every morning and even though I clean with alcohol first, I'm wondering if I have cleaned sufficiently. The glitter seems to stick to the glue okay, it's just the glue not sticking to my skin!

Re: best glue?
I have found over the years of doing tatts on kids during the summer that trying to remove sun block of any kind with just alcohol doesn't work well. It's almost as if the alcohol dilutes the sunblock and smears it around, but doesn't really remove it. If I find that there is sun block or lotion of any kind on the skin, I will first wash it with water, dry it with a paper towel, then do an alcohol cleanse. It's possible that your moisturizer is causing a similar problem. Try water first, then alcohol. And make sure that the alcohol evaporates completely.
As far as how long to wait, the surface of the tatt is dry and touchable almost instantly, at least as far as not being a problem for smearing or glitter coming off. The trick is that the glue in BETWEEN the glitter layer and the skin will take some time to "cure", because it is mostly cut off from the surrounding air. I usually recommend an hour before any kind of water exposure.

Re: best glue?
Mark, I've got to have you try that Moonlight glue we're talking about. It's awesome. We're doing a co-op soon here with the Utah peeps.

will using a babywipe before using alcohol work also? or does it have to be plain water?

Re: best glue?
Most baby wipes have lotion-type compounds (such as aloe) that might add to the problem. Good for baby bottoms, not good for super-clean skin.
Re: best glue?
Based on Mark's advice (read his site), I've been carrying a spray bottle and roll of paper towels to fests and asking about the sunblock. If they say they have it on, I douse the paper towel with water and wash their arm about three times in a row, and then do the alcohol part.
Since sunblock is so oily and can actually be used to remove tattoos, it's a really good idea to take this extra step.

Re: best glue?
I use Prosaide, and the tattoos last from 3 - 7 days, and sometimes longer on certain people (my friend's son had one on his upper arm for 14 days - Guinness Book stuff!). But the usual time for me is about 3 - 5 days. Thinner stencil areas go first. Tattoos that cover a large area without thin projections last longer.

Re: best glue?
I use the moonlight to, it is a bit thicker than I would like but it lasts soooo long! So happy I can get it in the U.S. now and don't have to wait for the crazy shipping from China. You can find it here.
Re: best glue?
Erica - have you been able to use the Moonlight glue with the freehand pen? or is it too thick for that?
