what license and permits needed to face paint?

I am located in Long Island , NY.. i have contact my county clerks office , and town clerk and every other office and i was transfered so many times..very fusterating when no one knows any answers. Can you guys and gals give me a hand? I want to face paint , I have no employees just myself and I was hired to work a car show in september to face paint and airbrush tattoos. what would i need? license ? permit? please help me with the right info. Thanks

In TN, if you are hired by someone to paint in their show or booth, you only have to provide what the people hiring you require. Not every hiring agency will require the same thing.
Usually I am only required to have insurance.

thank you for that info...i have insurance , but i know legally here in new york i need something else like a street fair permit, maybe a general vendors license, but not 100% sure..there is something i have to show to cops when im out in public working just dont know what it is called

I have an occupational license from my city. That's all that's needed here.

Try the search. Type in business license or new york. See what come up. In Las Vegas we need about 4 different licenses..

You start with a basic business license for the city/town you live in and liability insurance. After that you may or may not need licenses to work in other cities.

Most cities put out a booklet on how to open a small business. These may be thru the city clerk, chamber. local small business admin or collage. Some places have SCORE thru the college or United Way. Retire business professional who give free help. Info is actually easy to find.
