Camping trolley+table...drool...
I posted this in another thread but thought I'd update with a new thread. I hope this isn't inappropriate to post here on the forum? It's not a competitor for Metina, but that may not be the only criteria for inappropriate/retail link info...? If it is wrong to post, please accept my most humble appologies and I will promptly remove it.
I found this camp kitchen and thought it would be great for face painting and thought I'd pass on the info. http://www.grubhubusa.com/#!grub-hub
I'm seriously considering it. When I emailed the company to inquire about the height of the table tops (and mentioned it was currently out of my price range), I got this reply:
Hi,
I’m glad you like the Grub Hub and have another outdoor workstation use for it. The side tables are approximately 33” and the back table is approximately 31.5” high.
Perhaps it would be more in your price range if you consider the following possibilities:
1. Pre-order through June 24th and get $100 off with code: JOR2012EX
2. Enter one of our contests for writing or recipes or ?? and win a free one from one of our drawings. (See the Adventure page on the website)

With Whitney's jewelry cases for repotting paints, set up would be a snap.
It is about 27 lbs and high enough for me to paint standing up. It is a trolley and table in one. With the T design, two people could theoretically work off it with the boasted 9 square feet of table space. I'm not sure if the sink has a drain (easily modified) but with a hanging water bag above, and a drain/bucket system below you could very easily use the sink as your water bucket and quickly flush old water and refill with new water using utilizing gravity for speed. It has hanging mesh bags great for sponges, a hanging garbage bin, a hanging weather-proof paper towel holder that would also be good for wipes, and an upper shelf for lots of storage that doesn't need to come out when you pack up.
The nice thing about it is that you can have any configuration of the tables up or down, depending on the space available where you set up.
And it is really practical for when I go camping too!
I'm excited about it, and just wanted to share.

This would be awesome for multi-day festivals! But it's waaaaay out of my price range. A girl can dream, though
Re: Camping trolley+table...drool...
Maybe you could win one by writing a testimonial on how it could be used for face painting. Who knows how many sales they could make from face painters, etc., and NOT just used for camping. good luck!

Re: Camping trolley+table...drool...
Nice! I too have been looking into a portable sink system for my booth... would make it so nice to have my OWN sink where I know where it's been and what's been in it. Plus, it would make changing water and cleaning things so much easier. But I've run into the same issue... they're just way too expensive. And if I want one that can use hot water (I would prefer this for sanitary reasons), I need an electical hookup. Granted, I've been investigating generators as well for lighting at nights, but those are pricey as well... :/

Re: Camping trolley+table...drool...
An idea I have for hot water at events is a solar shower I have from camping days - basically a black water bag that hangs up and has a spigot at the bottom - holds 3 litres or so of water.... I can start it at home with warm water and it won't lose heat as long as I make sure it has sun on it.

Re: Camping trolley+table...drool...
That looks so cool! I wonder too, if they would sell it without the stove?
Re: Camping trolley+table...drool...
It does seem very cool. Even with $100 off though, it's pretty pricey but seems like a good long-term investment. It doesn't come with the stove, the lantern, or the water bag. They are just in the photo to for display purposes.
Noella, that's very clever!

Re: Camping trolley+table...drool...
I've just been looking online at camping equipment too! This is the most amazing set up I've seen: and yes, price wise they are prob out of range for return. I weigh up: is it going to get me more work? (if I can be more efficient and to the next job quicker, than yes.) Is it going to cost me lunch? (if packing up takes ages, I may not eat: no thank you!) I have also looked at janitor gear, for the trolley/levels. (cheaper) Solicitors trolleys (expensive). Maybe someone can design something esp for facepainters! And sell it in Australia (just for me!). Aaaaaannnddd make it washable, colourful, creative....attractive looking....not grey or black. Yep, not fussy at all. Include table and chairs. Light. Business op anyone?

Re: Camping trolley+table...drool...
as a magician we have a few tables that might fit your needs. here is a listing for one that we use for traveling platform shows. you can find them in many price ranges, i even have the plans to make them. take a look at the pics there as they show the actual shelves on the inside once its set up.

Perhps they would like to provide a substantial discount for "exposure"...
Re: Camping trolley+table...drool...
How much is this camping trolley?
I see this could be great for street fairs...for multiple painters...very cool

Found one - inexpensive, with a sink and lantern holder!!
So I saw this thread in the never-ending search for things to make lugging all my stuff to/from fairs, festivals, markets, etc easier... because let's face it, my kids are too cool to get hired to carry my tables and setup. Did a little searching on Amazon, and found this little number: http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Packaway-Deluxe-Camp-Kitchen/dp/B00363WZSS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1389159225&sr=8-2&keywords=portable+kitchen ... I just may have to try this out, because I am sick of juggling multiple 4 ft. tables bungeed to my glitter trolley cart...
Update: found another post where they referenced this one: http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Basic-Camp-Kitchen/product/10207192/ - around the same price and weight, but the paper towel holder is sturdier on this one (Coleman's is suction cups... like that will last with how many PTs I go through each gig)... am booking more fairs/festivals than parties, so something like this, instead of two 4-footers and a couple single-seater trays with table cloths to cover their ugliness, seems like a much better choice.

Re: Camping trolley+table...drool...
I have three camp kitchens for events where I work with a team. They are perfect for those who stand while painting. Some of my team sit to paint, and the area on the end of the camp kitchen that is supposed to be a propane stove shelf is perfect for sitting painters. I cut a piece of Coroplast (plastic "cardboard", lightweight, portable, easy to cut to size from Home Depot) and I place it on top of the wire grid and top it off with a table cloth.

Re: Camping trolley+table...drool...
Any thoughts on something like this? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00192JGDU/sr=8-3/qid=1389176103/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1389176103&seller=&sr=8-3
Update: looking at pros/cons, availability and price, I went with the one linked above. I think I can retrofit it to suit my needs, and it will eliminate the need to drag multiple small tables to events in my Miata, which is fun-sized and doesn't like big furniture...

I think this is my first post. I've been a member and a learner for a while.
I bought this table (clearence Kmart $17.00 in 2010) for a white elephant gift and my son-in-law ended up with it. Fast forward 1.5 years later and I start getting into face painting for theater.
Then someone asks me to do a birthday party. Having spent $400-$500 on paints and supplies and not actually earned a dime, I jumped on it. I charged $85 for 2 hours plus $20 travel and restock. I zipped my paints up in a wheeled suitcase and took back the unused camp table from my son-in-law and that my friends was my beginning. This one thing... this table is by far my absolute must have.
I blundered my way through my whole beginning, spent to much on stuff I don't use and not enough on things I needed. I ordered the tall directors chair which is great for adults but too big for kids. I love the chair (flip-out side table and side pockets) but kids seem to fold-up, chin down and it makes painting them hard. Solution anyone? Off topic, sorry, I'm rambling, back to the table...I love it, can't imagine setting up without it.
A few of the clips have broken on the roll-up table top, it still holds up but I will have to replace/repair eventually. I use shelf liner cut to fit on all the surfaces to keep things in place.

Dear boatload2359:
Welcome to the Forum!
If you go into your Profile, above, and post your general location, it makes it easier for you to be noticed and invited to jams, and share face paint orders and shipping costs. You can order one colour and someone else orders a second colour. You can split them and get two colours for the price of one.
In order to push children closer to me in the big director's chair, I have placed a big "bed reading pillow" in the chair. I don't know what else to call this pillow. It is a cushion with two little arms that come out of the bottom of the pillow. It moves the child closer to me in the chair, and, in the case of twitchy SpideyGuys… the boy can lay back on the pillow, like a ramp, and I can paint him from behind, upside down (The boy appears upside down…NOT me!)
I do not appear to be articulate this morning. (Am I ever?).
Going to have a tea.
xoxo

Thank You! I have one of those pillows somewhere. I'm going to give it a try. I think I've updated my profile. No avatar yet, haven't figured out how and can't find a pic. I like enough to use. It would be so nice to have someone to split paints with. I live in a small town and paint in a 50 mile radius I've never crossed paths with another face painter in my area. We have a couple festivals a year here and some local restaurants I paint at occasionally. I have several young people that I get to help at festivals. Since no one has there own paints I have to share mine. Something I don't like doing. I should be called lonesome in Florida. lol
