What to line a case with?

I found this chess set at a yard sale across the street. It was in a case that looked just the right size to hold my paints and not be as bulky as my current scrapbooking paper box. And it was only $2. This little case is about the size of the little laptop cases and has a handle.

I got it home and realized it had these little rubber feet that prevented it from opening flat and that the lining was a flocked paper. I had to remove the lining to get to the fasteners on the feet to get them off.

The inside is now an ugly press board with staining from the glue.

I first thought about lining it with scrapbook paper, but then realized I really need something that will wipe clean easily.

Any suggestions?

If a working solution isn't available, at least I got replacement pieces for hubby's chess and checkers sets out of it. The only thing I am really out of is the time getting those stupid feet off and the $2.

What about shelf paper from the dollar store? Those are meant to be a "wipeable" surface.

try duckt tape they have all sorts of different designs and patters. and is "wipeable"

enamel paint maybe? even cheaper if you can find an oops paint at one of the local home stores lowes or home depot

I like the duct tape idea. I was wanting to get some for making a hula hoop anyway. I saw they had a hot pink tiger stripe at Micheal's the other day.

I laminated cute paper... It works well, and can be cleaned or changed out as needed!
