Breaking Mirrors

I had a nifty standard hand mirror for the kids to see what I painted. I loved it, because as soon as I held it up they would get this huge smile that made it perfect. But I dropped it and it broke.
Any suggestions on either finding a non-breakable mirror or arranging a mirror so that it doesn't fall on the concrete?

Here in Toronto, we have a science store called "Efton's". They sell 10" x 12" acrylic mirrors for about $25. The next time I get out to that part of town, I will pick one up.

After cutting myself a few weeks ago on broken mirror pieces in my FatMax... I bought an unbreakable locker mirror from Staples.

I've only ever used dollar store mirrors and I've never broke one! If they fall mirror-side down, there's a plastic lip around the whole mirror so it doesn't actually touch the ground. That's probably what keeps them from breaking!

I get dollar store mirrors too... and then cover them with fibre tape or duct tape to hold the glass in case of breakage. Also use acrylic locker mirrors on my display boards.

I store my dollar store mirrors in "Maxine" and keep them inside a bubble wrap bag that some face painting supplies from somewhere (??) came in. The mirrors fit in these bags perfectly... wish i could remember what was shipped in them...

I will have to check out the local dollar stores and maybe office supply for some locker mirrors.

Dollar store mirrors here as well - I made a cardboard pocket that's taped to the (in)side of my transport box that it slides into for packing, and I have a string on them so they fasten to my (working) shelves so they can't hit the ground or walk away. It lets the mirror be shown to the person in the chair, or a person who has gotten out and is standing beside while the next person is being done - but I can always find the mirror when I want - the string is in arms reach.

IKEA sells two terrific acrylic unbreakable mirrors. One is smaller, and the other is a more full-length mirror that has a friendly stuffed animal attached (it's either a dinosaur or alligator - I forget). I'm going to have both at my booth this year. You can probably order them online.

I had forgotten about IKEA. My daughter used to have a cool over the door organizer that had a mirror on it as well as lots of pockets and a hamper. I wonder what happened to that thing. I would have been perfect to go over one of my display walls and used the hamper for a trash can.

I have a large mirror with a handle I keep upside down(handle up) in the bottom of my FatMax. I just reach for it, show the child their face and place it back into my FatMax. I only had one person break my mirror. She was a girl probably in her 20s looking at my mirror. She put it under the side of her butt cheek in my chair and broke it Not a big deal since it was just a few dollars and was replaced before the next weekend gig

I found a GREAT mirror for just four bucks in a variety store this summer. Big large oval, bright blue, large grip handle. At a party, I placed it on my chair after showing a kid his face. I was standing to paint, then sat back down, and ...

I don't believe about the seven years' bad luck - this was my second mirror in a few months!

I'm getting some acrylics really soon.

Goodwill is a good spot sometimes too...

I need one of those laughing mirrors for the younger boys. They look into the mirror and just stare the longest without expression. It cracks me up that they will show no emotion, yet the little girls will gasp with delight. If I whipped out that laughing mirror... well, maybe I could get a smile out of them.
