Cutting Up Mont Marte Body Art Paints
I have 30 new containers arriving soon and intend to cut most of them into rainbow cakes . The questions is...Has anyone cut up the new neons and pearls? Do they require a different approach to the standard colours which I have already made rainbows with. Wondering if they are likely to be crumbly as a few have mentioned about DFX.
Have my addapted pill boxes (again attacked with blade and chisel) ready to go...just hate waiting for the postman to arrive...
Will hopefully post a few potos of what happens when I get to cutting. Before and after the carnage

Sorry having never tried that brand I can't give you any advice except to say that "If the cake crumbles, just smoosh it, Julie, smoosh it!" Sorry seriously there are some tutorials on youtube about making your own split cakes (think Vi from Sparkling faces has one but not sure). There are threads on the forum as well.

Re: Cutting Up Mont Marte Body Art Paints
Hi
I've cut up the Montmarte colours before. I didn't find the neons crumbly - quite the opposite in fact. I found them soft and a bit gluggly - so just don't do it when it's a really hot day. I've only cut up the emerald green pearly one but it was fine.
I usually pop any paints in the fridge for a bit before I cut them. I also put whatever I'm cutting them on (or resting them on, or cutting with) in the fridge so it all slices as cleanly as possible. Hope that makes sense!

Re: Cutting Up Mont Marte Body Art Paints
Thanks ladies. OneFirefly, I have cut standard colours just like playing with plastercine. Good to know that the neons won't all go to peices and pearls need to be cool. That maybe tricky as temps over here have been high 30's for ages, might be a job done directly under the aircon vent.

Finally had some time to make, photograph and make slide show of the carnage. Now if I can just get it onto this page. http://www.kizoa.com/slideshow-maker/d2437394k1779285o1/the-making-of-my-split-cakes
Hope this link works can't remember how to get it live on this site. Sorry

Re: Cutting Up Mont Marte Body Art Paints
Can we get these in the states? I'm curious to read the ingredients and give them a try.
Re: Cutting Up Mont Marte Body Art Paints
I am looking for some neon (blacklight activated) paints. Would love to know if I can find those in the states too.
Re: Cutting Up Mont Marte Body Art Paints
Sorry ladies but I'm prety sure they Australian only! BUT you could try online from Art Shed Online, they may ship to you.
http://www.artshedonline.com.au/index.php?page=categories&cat=body-art
Standards @ AU$3.50 (21gm)
Pearls and Neons @ AU$4.50 (21gm)
The MSDS sheets can also be fould on each paint colour page, right at the bottom.
MM and TAG are almost the same in the way they apply, cover and wash away.

Believe it or not....Red Dot...but only a few around Australia carry them as stock amd then only a few basic colours. If you have an Art Shed nearby they should have them. You can always buy at Art Shed Online (as above) postage is reasonable within Oz ($8 flat rate I think) and if you become a member you get 10% off online prices and free postage on orders over $100.

Where did you get the pill boxes, they are the same for the new silly farm arty cakes.
Re: Cutting Up Mont Marte Body Art Paints
They cost me a whole AU$2 for 7 boxes from a shop called "The Reject Shop" here in Australia. Kind of a cheap imports and discontinued lines store. One box for each day of the week, each with four compartments. I took the knife and chisel to some of them and removed the dividers to give just one large box.
Re: Cutting Up Mont Marte Body Art Paints
Great slideshow! That looks fun and beautiful splits
In consistency and coverage and ease of use are they comparable to any of the other brands... I notice you have tag, are they like those, for instance?

Re: Cutting Up Mont Marte Body Art Paints
Yes just like TAG. I did a workshop with Ambah O'Brian here in Australia that used all TAG paints and I find no differences. Tag has a bigger range of colours than MM but I use both in my kit and they blend very well when used together.
These 2 desings use both MM and TAG and I can't tell the differance.
The following 2 are the new splits in action.
Poor butterfly looks a little worn out after a days painting and then putting on my sunglasses. LOL

I just saw that the company's location is literally about a 7 minute walk from my partners house.... woohoo, I am going to call and see if I can buy direct.
