Has anyone used Tulip Art and Body Paints ?
Tulip Face and Body paint
Went to Hobby Lobby and found a display with Tulip body art stuff I was a little upset thinking this is not going to be very good for our business . I'm hoping we don't get less booking for Birthday parties because mom thinks she can do the painting herself .... Please let me know if you used them and what you think of them ..... Thank You Denise Just of

Try typing "tulip" into the search box in the top right (right under the shop banner) You will be reading for hours.

Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
Made a whole beautiful rainbow cake with clearance Tulip...it stained so bad I could never use it in my business. I do have the black for my practice head because it doesn't stain and the silver is great and the white is okay for emergencies.

Nope. Buying some face paints doesn't automatically give you the skill to use them.

Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
I had a lady from our local council say "that looks easy" she proceeded to buy some paint and was really dishearten on her first spideyman,,,She ended up hiring me for their Christmas party. It is not as easy as it looks and us passionate people have had the tenacity to practise practise practise ..Dont worry,, Have the tenacity and the passion and no one can beat that.
Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
I had that fear too, as a Michael's is opening soon in my town. I was really excited to finally have such a great source of crafty stuff, but also worried that they will probably carry face paints. People in my city are very cheap, and 80% of "face painters" here are volunteers, so it's hard to convince people to pay for face painting, aside from festivals.
I'm trying to reassure myself by reading the other posts about how staining Tulip is, so I'm sure some people will use them once then realize that they aren't great. We'll see what happens... I'm just hoping people will realize that professional face painting looks better, and definitely doesn't stain like that.

Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
Just make sure your work has a wow factor and people will eventually realise that they have no hope! Haha
Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
I think both Joann's and Michaels have discontinued it...at least here in my city. Until Tulip finds a better supplier it's not really an option. They made a good marketing effort...just not a good product to back it up.

Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
It's still in the Michael's in Little Rock but not in JoAnn's. Haven't tried anything but Tulip silver but heard that everything but black, white, and silver stain badly! Seriously though, if you put in the hours learning and practicing, how could you NOT be better than someone who JUST buys the paint and tries to use it. Might as well let the kids paint themselves! I'm more ticked at the "pros" using craft paint and sharpies!Denise Cold wrote:I think both Joann's and Michaels have discontinued it...at least here in my city. Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
Omg SHARPIES that's crazy .....All I know before I painted on a face I took months out my life and many hours researching paints and how to videos and I'm an artist and makeup artist I paint on everything but if I'm going to do something I'm going to do right . so I'm a just a little pissed off about it ...... I live in a town that everyone is cheap as hell ... i just have to put it in my head that i'm good and that's that . I think you are all AMAZING BY THE WAY

Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
Ok I picked up the tulip body art round brushes they come in a pack of 4 I paid $7.99 for them nice looking Brushes but I must say they are the worst brushes I have ever used ..... They don't hold the paint in the brush .... The brushes are very much like fabric brushes or maybe not .. Please let me know if anyone has tried them ...

Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
The Tulip brushes are not good at all. I got them for some volunteers, and I really sort of felt bad that I got them they were so bad. The body glue is so-so, but the aplicator is good, you can refill it with better glue and it lasts. The glitter is Ok. I got all the Tulip neon glitters on cleance for $5.99...that was worth it, and I would snap up the silver, the yellow, and the light purple paint all day long if I found it, but the rest, nope. I always look when I am in the store, just to see if they have any, and what they have, to keep track of what the general public might be getting.
Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
it looks a bit like grimas that we use in holland... that works good for me...
but dont know anything about this
but dont know anything about this
Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
Can you put pros aid on top of what ever glue is in the applicator or do you have to clear it out?
Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
I have yet to use them myself.

Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
the items have been on clearance for a while now. It doesn't have any impact on my business. I practice and study a lot so I am not worried
Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
Our Micheal's has Snaz and Tulip and since Micheal's is just down the street, I'm always there and It seems to me that the racks are always full. unless its Halloween. I think ppl might try it once but thats it. Unless they fall in love with it. since I was one of those I can do it myselfers lol And i did my first gig with Snaz kit from Micheal's. lol But did lost of research and became obsessed with the world of face painting and now i know better. And if your passionate and practice it shows and people will pay for that or they don't deserve you.

Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
The teal and the purple tulip are JUNK. Just now seeing this thread or I would have known better. Just wrote a letter to Michael's and Plaid suggesting that they remove MOST of the colors from stock.
They don't just stain, they stain BADLY. I've scrubbed permanent markers off my grand daughters easier than this stuff! jeez o pete's. . . . what a waste.

Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
The whole Tulip face paint phenomena fizzled out as quickly as it started here. They are not even bothering to restock the stuff.
Re: Tulip Face and Body paint
Totally, it's rubbish - I had a client try to force me to use it at a gig in hong Kong. Quick demo of the difference in results (and the 'results of wiping it off) and I was 'donated' the tulip for my toddler to paint paper with.
In the UK Snazaroo now sell in most toy shops, fancy dress and supermarkets. At least its a good, safe paint. (Also some rubbish brands but hey 'it's cheap' say some...and turn up 3 days after haloween still stained green).
But as said before -they can buy it but they still won't necessarily be able to use it well.
Smurfs (just blue), all-white-ghosts etc aside, most mums / adults don't have the skills and many know it. Plus I don't even have time to paint at my own kid's party and I'm good/ fast/ PAINT FACES EVERY DAY.
Not a huge effect on us:)
