Training in Cleveland, OH?
I've never heard of any face painting training in my area? Particularly the Cleveland area. Are there ever any classes here?
Re: Training in Cleveland, OH?
Have you had a look at the Snaz listings?

Lol! Yeah, I was in for 10 years and then my husband declared he wanted his wife back... I guess he didn't take to kindly to my high expectations and barked orders.
Now that I've been out for almost 10 years, he still doesn't like my high expectatioins and barked orders....

But does he follow them? That would be key.
I miss my combat boots the most. They were soooo comfy!

I know exactly what you mean! My feet are permanently molded to fit them..I still have them in my old sea bag.
And no...he didn't follow orders well when he was enlisted and he certainly doesn't follow them well as a civilian

Wow, I admire anyone who can stick it out in the military...several family members have served, and my aunt's new hubby is currently serving (in South Korea, where my aunt will be joining as soon as the new baby gets his passport).
Me? I, um, pretty much can't do a pushup!
But wait a minute...combat boots are comfy?

He*L Yeah!! Super comfy... you have to break them in properly though... proper leather of course, put them on, lace up, stand in the bathtub until saturated. Then wear until dry. No really!
I broke in my cowboy boots the same way...

A face painting army chic eh Shannon??? I bet that's how you first started into face painting..... camoflage?? Am I close?
Re: Training in Cleveland, OH?
lol! I can't believe I forgot about the breaking in phase...and the blackish green staining on my poor pathetic feet once I took them off!
I had to break in a pair when I got to the Persian Gulf...that wasn't fun because I spent a lot of time on the flight deck wondering where the he*l all of the breathable air went...and my feet were freakin' hot! There's nothing good about 97% humidity on top of the insane heat. Amazingly, we got used to it. What really sucked was the fact that the humidity was so bad at night that when we'd go out to the catbox to get a beer (of course they opened it first to ensure we didn't try to smuggle it back on board) by the time you walked the 15 yards or so from the beer kiosk to your seat, your beer was lukewarm...

Lord no!! LOL... that was decades ago... eons even... Although I think it was the camo that attracted me... I look exceptionally good in olive drab.
Ooh... what carrier were you on? I toured one... I think it was the USS Ranger, when it was in Vancouver, and a supply ship too, which was fun.

My final duty station was onboard the U.S.S. Lincoln stationed out of Everett Washington. Loved it, especially when we went up to Victoria... Winkin' Lizard I think it was called...I don't know...it was a blur much of the time, but I loved the Canadian bar scene...and the Tasmanian bar scene... and the Australian bar scene... heck, I just liked the bars.... Not a big drinker, but I liked people back then...
Re: Training in Cleveland, OH?
So you really did get to see the world in the Navy? At least... the bars of the world?
I got to see most of BC and Washington State... We were in peace time mode back then.

Yes, I saw the world alright and I saw the insides of A LOT of bars, lol!!
I've been to Iceland, Greenland, Amsterdam, Alaska, Africa, England, Singapore, Bahrain, Australia, Tasmania, Canada and the planet Santa Barbara. I don't count Hawaii 'cause I was raised there and the Continental U.S. not so much because well, I live here, but I've been places here as well. It's not nearly as exotic to say I've been to Nevada as it is to say I drank that nasty Elephant beer in Africa...but you also don't have nasty after tastes to think about...

You went to Nevada... in the Navy? In a boat??? Now that's impressive...

Re: Training in Cleveland, OH?
What was impressive was how they convinced me that they weren't kidding about going to Nevada!!
I wanted an AirCraft Carrier, they gave me orders to Nevada!
I worked with ordnance, so Fallon, Nevada (a.k.a. the armpit of the U.S.) has a huge bombing range where the Navy sends it's pilots to learn how to drop bombs on targets and not houses. I loved working around all of the stuff that could go boom. Something about knowing that your day could end badly that motivated me to stay awake. But as far as ships? Nope, there wasn't hardly enough water there to keep a lawn alive, let alone a ship afloat! 3 years in the desert... and you wonder why I'm unstable?

Re: Training in Cleveland, OH?
The bad part of Nevada was learning about the guidance flaws in the multi million dollar Phoenix missile that I'd worshiped for 2 years prior. That was downer... but it was pretty... I used to cat nap on them in the magazines. Totally harmless without an arming mechanism.
Re: Training in Cleveland, OH?
You rode bombs? Now why does that seem logical to me...
Did you ever get anywhere near Area 51 or is that Air Force?

I was in Nevada and I've been to death valley, but nobody owns up to Area 51. I believe it's in death valley...but who knows...
I don't think any particular branch of the military claims sole proprietary ownership of the mythical place

Re: Training in Cleveland, OH?
I know this is an old thread, but did you ever find any training in your area? I am from Pittsburgh and have the same problem. Cleveland is only a couple hours away and I would travel there for training. I heard of some in Columbus but can't find any info...
Re: Training in Cleveland, OH?
We have since formed a formal guild in Cleveland and we had Pashur as our inaugural instructor this past June. We were going to join up with the Southern Ohio guild (Columbus) but we just couldn't get the amount of committed interest and a good location/date.
The NEO Guild of greater Cleveland has a jam session every 1st Wednesday of the month...I'm not sure how the Columbus guild does their thing. We always welcome other established painters but we don't train up new painters. We may be getting Mark Reid out here in the next few months but other than a few text messages back and forth, nothing is solid. I will definitely post it here if I can fanagle another instructor.
