Friday the 13th gig.....looking for ideas SUCCESS!!! A BUNCH OF PICS TO SAY THANK YOU : )

Hi gang, I've just booked a gig for this Friday.....yep it's the 13th, so that's the theme. It's at a pub/club so all adults. I'm painting the staff and then hanging around for 3 hours for whoever is game. I'm just about to go check out FABATV coz I remember the Wolfe Bros did a Jason mask which will be perfect. Besides zombie type faces and general gore what else do you think I could store up in my memory for the night? Ta x

Sounds so fun!!! Are people dressing up? If not... you will probably not be doing a ton to match the "theme". Like any other party, regardless of the theme, you end up painting what you always paint. Pretty eye designs for women.. tribal (if any) for men. Anything UV for clubs.

Thanks Katrina, yes, fun, fun!! Not sure if it's a dress up thing or not. Do you think I should bring a small picture selection type thing, or just take random requests....with me stearing them in the direction of what I can paint ; ) I was thinking of just taking requests. Feeling so much braver now that I've just finished a 5 day shopping centre gig hehehe.

I did a vampires ball this year, and thought I would be doing all kinds of special junk, but it turned out to be all over the place. I bet if you know how to do the jason mask and typical gore, and then the usual stuff, you are good to go!

So much fun! I found that people who are having a good time drinking tip really well too! Seed that tip jar, and make it a big, clear jar!

Not sure if you'll get any Friday the 13th requests, but if you do, you could "kill" a few people in various manors. Make them all victims of Jason

YIKES! Sorry, so BIG I guess I was going for realism:-)

I'd google it & do all the "unlucky" stuff, black cats, etc.

A black cat full-face (with yellow eyes on the eyelids) would be really cool! Even black cat cheek art would be neat.

Some people might want the exact opposite...as in LUCKY stuff, maybe to ward off the bad luck. Maybe you could do a lucky charm fancy mask with triple 7's in it, some horseshoes, a rabbit's foot, 4 leaf clovers....stuff like that?

Sexy spiderweb mask popped into my head last night while dreaming face paint lol! I was stuck on the gore type genre....just like that eyeball design Linda, great, thanks. Allrighty. I hope if I get the staff looking awesome, more people will want to get into it.....specially once the drink starts flowing! Thanks everyone!

Wasn't sure what to expect.....but, man, I had an absolute blast!!! Painted non stop, was asked to stay an extra hour and for as long as I wanted as long as more peeps want to get painted up. I bailed at 11.30 after painting for 4 1/2 hrs. Could have stayed longer, I turned people away to get outa there. I was sooooo exhausted, was blanking on ideas and wanted to get out of there before it got busier and messier if you know what I mean. Apparently a different crowd starts to come in after midnight and it was already picking up when I left. Painted nothing small, mostly guys, and all in theme!!! I didn't take any pics to choose from, but wished I took a list of ideas for myself coz I just went blank after awhile and some were asking for 'whatever you think'.....I tried to push the Jason mask at the start but then completely forgot about it. Dam!! Really wanted to do that one and any number of guys later on would have gone for it. Also repeated a few things coz my brain was just fried. Didn't even think of the black cat mask and girly spidey web thing I was going to do. I went home with ringing in my ears (VERY loud grungy music - i think the music might have killed off a few brain cells, I was consentrating so hard to tune it out hahaha) and nearly lost my voice...resorted to writing on my hand with paint to communicate with a few guys near the end lol Anyway, best gig ever!! Everyone was super nice, really appreciative, most people shook my hand to say thankyou, a couple of hugs and a tip at the end! Woowhoo! Appreciate your help. This guy wanted something with fangs....he suggested maybe evil clown kinda thing, I saw something like these eyes on google sometime in the last week, and it popped into my head. He loved it! yay

These guys were so nice. They were playing in a band together at midnight and wanted to all be turtles! One asked to be the rat. I tried really hard to channel Kim Brennans rat she did recently, but failed. lol I didn't want to churn out crap so I suggested the fourth turtle. They were happy, but I felt so bad I couldn't deliver for them.







ended up painting lots I had no idea about....google images on phones became the rage.

My 7yo caved in today and let me paint him for the first time in a while. He choose your dragon face! My attempt is not as good as yours - of course - but your SBS was easy to follow and it didn't take too long. When I upload the pic to my computer I'll make sure I'll post it for you to see.

Thanks for posting these. We have a nice Sports Bar here in town and I have thought about contacting them. I have just been afraid because I don't want any nasty drunks but you are right, a diff. crowed seems to come in during the late hours.

I am excited to try out some of these faces. At my events, I get asked by adults to do something scary, and I got nothin. But these are all very cool and look very doable! The ninja turtles are ,too funny.

fun2play --- gotta admit, I do prefer this kind of stuff to random requests of ''something small and pretty around the eye", those requests send me into a panic attack! Weird hey. Something I need to practise. You just made my day by the way. : )) Thrilled to hear you tried my dragon, wow. If you could post that pic it would be awesome.

Helena --- This gig is a stem off from the gig I had painting sugar skulls at a different bar here, which was a liquor industry function, so there were lots of bar managers there. This is actually the second gig I've got from that one. She originally just found me on google. Lucky me.

Jody --- Yeah go for it! I have really loved painting adults. There is more pressure coz they expect alot more, have access to google, lol, so can throw anything at you....but at the same time, at least you have a pic reference. I think this particular gig really worked coz of the crowd there. I don't think it would have been the same at a more conservitive kind of setting like a sports bar. But who knows. Those turtles were the best, would have loved to see them on stage together.....with some serious ear plugs in though ; )

How fun! It looks like it was a good group of people to paint, I love doing scary faces. I'm glad you had a good time. =)
