Shadnee. Did you design the blank faces that you painted on?

No, I got them from a print-out that I found on here, I just blew them up a bit on cardstock (so I'd be able to trace them) and tweeked the faces a bit (the eyes were open, but I didn't want to mess with all that detail, I simplified the mouth, and removed the eyebrows).

OtterGirl wrote:The way I get faces for my boards is to announce to all my friends/family on facebook/email/etc. that I am doing a "free face day." I have a list of the faces I need and let people pick from there. I take pictures as I go. I've also done this in a local park. When a random kid approaches me, I tell them to bring their mom over and have her sign a photo release form. The moms are usually happy to do it in exchange for the free face painting. In this way, my board has over 40 designs and no repeat faces. I also tell everyone that I will post the photos on my blog, and that drives a lot of traffic to my site. Hand out business cards at the same time and you may even get some gigs out of it.
Very smart - love the idea, especially getting them to your website.

Marielle, Illustrator is a computer drawing program that is based on vectors rather than pixels.  The simple version is that this makes it possible to decrease or increase the size of the drawing with out losing resolution.  It's how things like logos are created.

Great ideas, I really like the banner idea Barb. I will probably work up to something like that. For now I use two foam core boards held together at the top by paint splatter design duck tape, then I used clear photo pages attached by corners of the tape (all bought at Michael's) The whole set up cost about 15.00 without coupons. I am working on a great banner for this season. I have a photographer coming to a restaurant this week, and I have a list of all the things I want to paint- and then . . . Coolest banner ever! (or so I hope!)

Hello! I have 2 plywood boards that I painted and put a hinge at the top and a chain between so that I can open them up as an A frame. Then they're covered in velcro squares and all my info signs and pictures have velcro on the back. Makes it super easy to swap pictures over to make a theme or display the relevant information Smile

Also all my pictures are of me and I always get people who are shocked when I point out that they're all me, they don't notice! Really people are just focused on the design and what it's on is just a vehicle!

Display board pictures - Page 2 Empty Word Board

Post by Alexandra Corrynne Thu Aug 18, 2016 11:18 pm

Hey everyone!

Just thought I'd drop my word board here. Sometimes its nice to have one for those really long and crazy jobs. This way you can decide how intricate you are going to make each face/design depending on the size of your line, the amount of kids you have to paint vs. the time you have, etc. This way the kids wont know the complete design they are getting, and they wont be upset if its not exactly like the picture. I just put it in one of those clear plastic photo frames that are shaped like an "L" and stand on their own and set it front of my kit on the table. Hope this can be useful for someone Smile
