My first "Private Session" for a Halloween Party Empty My first "Private Session" for a Halloween Party

Post by Gretchen Sat Oct 29, 2011 11:21 pm

Tonight I had a blast painting "Father Frost" and "Mother Frost" on their way to a Halloween party. I guess there is a costume contest they are entering. I have been doing Christmas party gigs with "Father Frost" for a few years now, as Santa. He's an amazing Santa! Anyway, it was my first chance to paint people on their way to a party to go with their costumes. I had to rush a bit to get them both done in an hour but they turned out okay. I know I'll be awake in bed tonight thinking about how much cooler I could have made them! Kicking myself for forgetting to use my glitter spray in his beard. But it was a fun chance to try out some of my new little snowflake stencils, Glitter Gel and Detailz.

Wow, you did an amazing job!!

I just did my first 'pre-party' adult face today and I can't stop thinking abou the things I either forgot to do, or should have done ect. ect. But as long as the cutomers are happy it doesn't really matter!

Beautiful job, Gretchen. They don't look overworked or gimicky... so don't lose any sleep about how "cool" you could have made them. I think they look wonderful, stately and royal...like they were born that way!!!!
cheers

There amazing so don't sweat it. If your anything like me about the glitter probably some made it to his beard. I don't know about you but if you laid black cloth under me while I'm painting it would be like a glitterized police outline. lol!

I think they look fabulous!! I bet they were pleased.

I also did my first private booking this weekend. I was on a lil high after he left!! But I hear ya, I studied the pic afterwards going, oh, should have done this and that. I'm on such a steep learning curve right now, so just chalked it down to another experience.

Those are awesome costumes! I think your paintings were the perfect addition... not too much to compete with the rest of the outfit, but not too little either. Amazing job!

As Miss Ronnie said, not overworked, just great!

I think "father frost" is just as I would want my 3 year old to imagine him, cold but gentle with a twinkle in his eye. Your design brings him to life! cheers

Thanks everyone!! No, the gems in his beard were not my idea...actually, "Mother Frost" also makes jewelry so she thought of that and had them tied in there before they arrived. They were a great touch! I found out yesterday that they won first place in the costume contest! Wahoo! They said there was a really nice prize this year, whatever it was....so, I figure, no matter what else I could have done or changed, they couldn't have asked for more than to win the contest so I'll try to let my creative brain rest tonight! ;-)
