Fantastic weekend that I just HAD to share!

I had a WONDERFUL string of events this weekend that I just had to share because it made me feel so special!

Friday - party with 15 kids (and a bunch of adults also wanting painting)... every single face and every single balloon had a crowd of people around with "wow!" and "you're the best clown I've ever seen!"

Saturday market - started slow so I made one big balloon to wave around (dragonfly on a stick)... Normally, I don't sell a lot of the larger (more expensive) balloons. ONE child says, "I want one like that!" ok You can have this one! (it was relatively fresh, so it wasn't like I was giving her one that I'd had all day already) Then, "I want one like HERS!"... "I want one too!" ... "I want two of those to take home to my grandkids!" ... It was a good day at the market!

Saturday's other event - face painting and balloons for an Epilepsy event.... Everyone was so happy and appreciative. And there was a little boy who won a pad of post-it notes from the radio station booth. He came over and stuck one on me that said, "I love you"

Sunday - party with 8 or 9 kids... again, every painting and every balloon was filled with ooohs and aaahhhs... ALL of the kids and several of the adults participated in my songs and games (there's usually one or two that don't want to, or the parents just ignore it all and leave it to the kids). They loved it all

This weekend gave me the kick in the butt I was needing. I've been feeling kind of unmotivated... not feeling like being a clown "today" ... but today turned into a lot of days. Everything happens for a reason and all of this stuff this weekend has made me feel a lot better.

Perry, I am surprised to hear that you were feeling unmotivated. You always have the most original ideas (like your elf and chicken!) and you are always there to give us kicks in the pants when we need it. I'm so glad that an awesome weekend got you pumped back up. But, in case you ever need it again, I've got a special boot handy- just say the word!

it's one of the first times that someone has said that they knew several of the other clowns in the area AND said that I'M the best clown they've seen. Sometimes I just wonder if I'm "good enough" because I choose not to do the usual magic routines and gags that other clowns do. I tend to draw more from my experiences as a musician, teacher and mom than the standard "clown stuff."

As far as lacking motivation, I think skipping clown camp this summer left me a little down. We had a great family vacation instead, which was wonderful for the kids and our family relationships. But I get a lot of my energy from being with a group with similar goals and stuff. I'm going back next summer, so I'll just have to build back up with anticipation.

Seriously though, I am so glad that you were picked back up again by the admiration and respect (and LOVE) of onlookers. Clearly you spread a lot of joy (here on the forum, and out in the 'real' world). Thanks for sharing.

P.S. I suspect it is likely due to your unique and creative approach that makes you so great, not in spite of it. People that have seen many clowns perform likely find it refreshing to see something new and innovative.

YAY!!! I'm glad you had a great weekend to pull you out of a "funk". You surely made my son smile yesterday, I showed him your happy birthday YouTubes and he was CRACKING UP! I even posted a link to one of them to my cousins wall today for her birthday. I agree that you should keep that post it forEVER. Frame it or something .

Where's clown camp and how do I get there??????? And how much does it cost and.... Seriously...I always wanted to go to clown college.

it seems like a lot of money, but it covers all your food and your room for the whole week as well as all the classes and jams running from dawn until way into the night.

Yay Perry! There is nothing like a little appreciation to remind you why you slave away for something that is so temporary. Balloons and face painting are magical for just that reason.
