UGGGGGGGHHHHHH I need to SCREAM!!!!!

Ugh!! I will begin with Thank you for letting me vent!!! I really need it right now!!

For the past two weeks we have been having problems with different water elements around our house. I live with my parents due to my ex stalking me. Well as many of you know my dad died unexpectedly last December, and he was very independent, and well he wouldn't ever let me participate in fixing things unless he was stumped and I fixed it without him knowing about it. Well since he passed, I am the one that has been fixing things, which I am totally ok with, but I have never had any experience with plumbing type things. So I am just trying to get thru everything. None of them are related to the others, other than they all are water/plumbing... Tonight the night before my kids first day of school all of a sudden we all hear BOOM..... PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT..........

My daughter and I jump up, and my boys start freaking out! Well my daughter finds it, and I RUN to the water heater... shut the valve off. well that takes care of the gushing water, so I am good at least for the moment, and it didn't do too much... and that was just the latest. I am still dealing with the filter and hoses in back of the fridge, that now I have to completely replace one of the hoses. No big, at least I finally figured it out. That has been going on for about 2 weeks, mopping , up all the water several times a day. Almost done with that one....... Woo hoo.... Then about a week before that, the outside well water connection completely flooded out front lawn, for days, we finally got that shut off... have to completely dig that up and replace those.

Can't afford a plumber.... mom's income the only thing coming in,.... ex's decided I didn't need child support..... I've only had 3 paying gigs this summer....... My mom was nice enough to let my kids get some clothes for school, or I would of totally been screwed! So this past month especially has been a ton of fun!!!

And now the pipe behind the bathtub........ I think we are being told something, I just can't figure out what it is... Can't figure out why it would always be water related... but Definitely NOT my specialty.... lol...

Anyway... Wish me luck getting thru all this fun stuff... Thank you for letting me vent!!! :-D

Ah yes, the water curse... been there and have the wet t-shirt.

I learned a lot of remodeling because we had no money when the kids were young. I was a stay-home-mom and so if I wanted a fence, I'd have to install it. If I wanted the bathroom tiled, I had to do it.

Water is a pain in the a** because it's so destructive. I wish I was close so I could help you. My only advice is go to a library and check out books. They should have all sorts of plumbing books. It's saved my bacon many times.

Did you turn down your water heater? Sounds like the pressure relief valve went off, might be because it's too hot.

If you are having trouble with the tub plumbing think outside the box...go through drywall to fix rather than mess with the tile or tub surround. It's a lot easier to fix drywall than re-tile. Even going through the basement ceiling would be preferable.

Maybe you could find a plumber that would trade for a birthday party. At least he could come and tell you what needs to be done and the parts you'd need for a consultation fee. Try on craigslist in the trade section.

Maybe a feng shui space clearing is in order???? Ironically, water is the element of the career section of your home. Check your front door for blockage (coats, shoes, face painting stuff , bicycles, etc.) Make your front entrance as inviting as possible and then "welcome" face painting jobs to come your way.

Is there maybe a school around that will send out student plumbers? Somebody who needs hours for their apprenticeship? Maybe you could post on kijiji & craigslist for that?

I got a little advice from my brother, he seems to think its a simple fix... YEAH!!!!! I was actually able to sleep a little last night! So I am gonna get the supplies in a little bit.

Yes Suzy, its a big frustration, I have also had big self esteem issues with my painting. It doesn't help that I come on the forum and see such amazing work from you all ... lol You guys are really talented you know!!!

Denise- thank you for the advice, and the feng shui info. That's really interesting, and interestingly appropriate... Guess I need to fix that quick!!! I did a duh moment on the library advice...lol my daughter and I spent almost every Sunday at the library, don't know why I didn't think of that... the stress of it all I guess!

ok... so update...

Guess what happened... I got everything that I needed to fix everything... easy enough. Everything fit when I got home. So when I start working on the line coming out of the pipe to the filter, I start unscrewing the nut, when SNAP!!!! THEN A GUSHER!!!! The whole kitchen floor was filled in minutes. At least my brother that NEVER does anything walks, and I mean walks outside to shut the whole water to the house off. As he walks out he says, "yeah that was real smart stupid idiot!" So I tell him back at least I am trying to fix things!

I had to start crying. That hurt really bad. So after 4 hours of cleaning up the water we (my mom and I) finally finish. My mom was sick, and my knee kept giving out from all the walking I had to do to get everything, including dinner at the grocery store. (I thought I was doing pretty good til that happened.) Anyway today they all decide to cut me out of everything, saying that they will get the right stuff and fix it themselves. I have been trying to fix everything for about a month now! I finally get everything the right size, and stuff, and my brother tells me I am incompetent. Oh and when the gusher happened the outlet for the fridge is literally 3 inches away from the pipe... so at least I didn't get electrocuted.

I am tired of being the one that does and does and does, and then I am the one that gets blamed for breaking or screwing something up, when I am the one fixing everyone elses boo boos. I can't take anymore emotionally, and I am stressed out to the limit!!!! I think maybe I should just be a lazy a$$ moocher like my brother, then maybe I will get babied for a bit... I won't cuz its not like me but still....

So much for being positive, I feel like I am still on the down slope of a scary horror roller coaster with no up swing rainbow in the near future. I keep telling myself, it will get better, it will get better. Now Get BETTER already!!!! PLEASE!!!

Things like this is why I come to the forum everyday, to at least see some inspiring people have a great day, or because I know you all are really supportive!!! Thanks for letting me vent again!!! Love you all!!!

Oh Skidzz, I totally feel you. I have had a few emotional breakdowns the past few months. Or I guess anxiety attacks would better describe. I also have found that I do and do and do for others. I have that stupid personality type of people pleaser. It rarely appreciated, or hardly even noted. The thing is, you are a great person, do not let other people not being great make you change. You should keep your head high, because you keep on trucking and you get things done. It isn't your fault you are not a plumber.As for them cutting you out, i know it hurts, but who are they really hurting. Themselves. Let them handle it. Seems to me, It is time your brother took some responsibility. Believe me, I know all about that.

At least you understand!! Although I just needed to vent and I know this is a safe place for venting, cuz you all are so nice about it.

Here is what they did when they went out... they kept bugging me about what was needed... so I told them and sent pictures... When they finally came home they didn't have but 1 thing... a pipe... I didn't say a word... but telling my son hey buddy, have fun. And I have one person in my face saying that I was acting like a B**** ?????????????????? Ok that tore it!!! I am gonna get the stuff later today, then fix it... If I leave it for them to fix we may not have water for a month... NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!! I want to take a shower... and not smell like well ick!!!

One time overseas someone calculated tht it was cheaper to take the kids to the local rec center for showers than to do it at home...made the kids happy, we got saunas & swimming to boot...

Still need to fix a little tiny leak... but I FIXED IT!!!! I am soooo HAPPY!!!!!
