Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
Ok maybe not you ALL, but I know several of my lovely FP friends on here store their paints in a flat plastic scrapbook paper holder. I looked looked looked looked EVERYWHERE. Michaels, AC Moore, Hell mart (er um... I mean Walmart), Target, various dollar stores... EVERYWHERE and nothing! I neeeeed one. The only one I could find was 3 1/2 inches deep, WAY too deep for paint cakes. Where did you get yours?
Re: Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
I found mine at Hobby Lobby but off to the side near photo storage plastic boxes instead of on scrapping shelves. I had also been unsuccessful locating them at the same places you tried, isn't it frustrating? The worst part for me is that I discovered I really don't even need to use them because I like to hold the paint pots when loading my brush/sponge.

Re: Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
My issue is my paints get knocked around and I end up with cracked cases, broken lids, gouged cakes, etc. So I figure something that stores them nice and flat.... you know? I don't mind taking the cakes in and out when I am using them, it's storing them that's my issue.
Re: Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
They are also sometimes called project protectors and similar names.
If I were you I would walk in and be like "I need a slim case to protect my paper" and they should point you straight to it.
You could also order it over the internet if you are tired of looking everywhere.
Also, I am sure that Walmart and Micheal's have it, or a the very least, I have seen them at my Walmart and Micheal's.
Jo-anns should have it to.

Hi,
Why not just buy the laptop cases from Metina? am I missing something?
probably am - we don't have Micheals or anything like that here.

scrapbook cases I bought were 3 bucks.
Re: Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
Hi,
I found mine at Office Max!
Now, they have them, buy one, get one 1/2 off!
http://www.officemax.com/catalog/sku.jsp?productId=prod3110178&history=vmoleodw|prodPage~15^freeText~iris^paramValue~true^refine~1^region~1^param~return_skus@3kfpbiw6|prodPage~91^paramValue~true^refine~1^position~1^region~1^param~return_skus^return_skus~Y
They're made by IRIS.
They hold 12 round paints on each side. 24 to a case.
I would suggest putting a piece of wax paper between the sides to keep the paint from falling into the otherside (if it's chipped/etc)
I adhered mine by velcro. It works GREAT! The snaps are snug as well. They're not flimsy like some of the document cases found at the craft shops!
I put mine in my pro bag from Metina to carry, not using the black base....
I had several (to my way of thinking) ideas for set-up for shows/fests.. but, sadly, my injury has kept me from following through on them.
I have to return to the hospital tomorrow... dunno for how long... BUT... after I recover well enough, I promise to take pictures of the various ideas that I have in mind to share!

Can you point me to said laptop cases? I have been all through the forum shop and not found these.

I saw these at Michaels too, pretty colors I might go back and get them, I just really don't need all three of them nor do I need the frame that they sit in, and I don't have room anywhere in my house for anything I am not going to use.
I didn't know about you injury and I am bummed, hope you're ok. Does the hospital have free wifi?
Re: Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
Yeah I had a look the reason you can't find them is she sells each brands ones in it's pallet section.... so here is the link to the paradise one....
http://www.facepaintforumshop.com/servlet/the-Paradise-cln-Palettes/Categories
But there is a Tag one in te Tag section and DFX int he DFX palet section... in the pictures they look full of paint.... but if you read the discription they come empty....
I don't think $25 is comparable to $3 though.
The laptops come with the foam inserts to hold your cakes in there... I assume if you get the scrapbooking paper thingy you would have to velcro the pots or use magnets or something.
*** See Melinda - I was missing something.... $3... far out .... us Aussies are ripped off on everything.

Got mine at Walmart. I just got lucky. They've disappeared since then.
Re: Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
i got my case at hobby lobby its by sterilite.... then i noticed them at walmart by the school supply section..they were 3.99 so i picked up another one..these are heavier than the scrap book cases..but a bit smaller..i can still get 12 on each side with the lids.

Is that Sally Girl glitter I see?
Re: Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
They still have them at Walmart in the craft/fabric section. They're only $5. Get the big velcro squares from the tool section & make a whole velcro bottom.
Re: Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
I got mine at Hobby Lobby. They were in the very back of the store in the plastic container section. I really like them because I have a lot of Wolfe 90 sizes. They fit, even with a 30 attached to the bottom. It also fits 2 45 sizes stacked together. I like having them stacked so I don't have to open as many tops when I get somewhere, plus I keep the colors I use the most on the top so I don't really have to get to the bottom ones If I don't want to I just got this one a month or so ago, so I bet they still have some.

Here is one to see the width. . .i stuck a dfx split on top so you had reference. . . .[img][/img]

Re: Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
HappyVickery, those are the ones I finally found, yay! At Walmart no doubt (after I looked there 100 times).
I glued in velcro strips in the case and on the bottom of the paint pots, but the velcro seems to peel off the paint pots and I have to keep re-gluing them. I used hot glue. Might be time to hit up the trusty E-6000 glue.

StorNCarry Slim Scrapbook Cases for TAG paints
I wanted to put this in an existing thread so that it made sense. I got the StorNCarry super slim scrapbook case (on sale for $5.99) in Joann's and it is fitting my TAG containers perfectly. I can only fit one layer in, but that is exactly what I wanted. I cut up a towel to cushion the little bit of space left over and it worked so I will make a permanent square of toweling or fleece to hold them in that I will just wash with my other towels after a gig.
So my plan is to use only this pallet at gigs and open it and put the toweling in the opposite side and put my brushes, water bath, Liquid Bling in the 12x12 space of the lid. It's got some molded channels in it so I'm not thrilled but I don't think it will interfer too much.
Here's some I like even better but I'm not willing to spend that much. They are a little smaller profile because they don't have the molded handle. I wrote about wholesale pricing but haven't received a response yet:
http://www.smallparts.com/akro-mils-15113-craftdesign-scrapbook-carrier/dp/B00026IAG8?ref_=bng_pf_B00026IAG8
I can fit 20 full sized 52gm cakes in there with 15 30gm one-stroke containers. You can fit more one-strokes in the configuration by removing a 52gm.
It fits sideways in the FatMax but I'm mad at Max right now for falling apart, so I might see if it will fit in an extra large scrapbook case (waiting for a good coupon) and start using that. (Bad Max!)
Now I just have to figure out if I can survive with only 20 cakes and 15 one-strokes. If not I'll have to have two but they're only 1.2" high so together they are only 3 inches together.

Oh and hey, maybe place that nice piece of towel under the cakes to cushion those channels? Thanks for sharing these. I am using plastic notebook cases from wallyworld, but they dont fit my TAG cakes perfectly like these do. I might have to go to Joanns.
Re: Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
The little spring between the yellow thumb grips that hold the handle sprung on me and they fell down limp. I rigged it and got out the door but I haven't even dared take a close look at it.

Oh noooo. The handle is essential!!
Re: Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
Thanks, Denise! This will be perfect for my rainbow cakes. I have all my regular colors in a craft box so that all I have to do is take off one lid, but all my rainbows and mini-rainbows, I still have to take off all the little lids. Now I know I can put them all in one container and take off ONE lid. This will take about 5 minutes off my set-up (and every minute counts
Re: Those wonderful scrapbook paper cases that ya'll keep your paint in
That's why I had to stop using my wonderful aluminum case...those dang lids! I've been stacking my bigger cakes in my FatMax (I put the one strokes in the caddy) so I didn't have to do lids but I'm getting transfer paints on the bottoms and little dents in the cakes.
I want to do what Linda does and have the two cases side by side and that will be my table top (if my Fat Max is repairable...grrrr.)
I was curious about the rounds and it fit quite a bit because it's designed for 12x12 paper so 18 32gms fit in with a little room for 4 split cakes on the sides. So I will be able to fit all my paints in. I'll just transfer my 90gm white into a 32 gm. I still want to move toward squares but this is a good start.
I think Melody is right...a little black fleece in the bottom would look great and catch drips.
