Summer is here and I was thinking of getting into glitter tattoos. Can you recommend what to buy and where? What are the most popular designs? Thanks.

There are some great places to get stencils and adheisive. My favorite is Jody Rogers sigsignsva@hotmail.com. She is Signature Signs in Virgina. You can get Signs, banners, and Stencils. She will even make Stencils to order.
There is also Glimmer Body Art from Ca. They are wonderful too.
And don't forget Jodi Carr of ProPaint.com in Ca
And of course Erika Harris, from Florida I think, at Amerikan Body art.

There are more, but these are the ones I can think of right off the top of my head.

I really like the glue from Glimmer Body Art..... it does not contain latex and doesn't get as "dirty" looking after the tattoo's glitter starts to fleck off. I think their stencils are okay...... some rip even with the careful rolling technique. I remember Jody had some superior mermaid and batguy designs that stayed together nicely for 2 or 3 uses..... (at home on my kids' experimenting). I have had 2 glitter tattoo events....great for rainy day or swim parties or those kids who don't want to wait in the line for painting when you have an assistant!

Make sure to get the kind of glue applicator in the lip gloss tube and not the roller. It clogs horribly. I had to soak my roller ball in 99% alcohol and keep prodding at it for over two hours before it unclogged. Two tats later, it was clogged again. Right into the rubbish bin.

I started to use mehron pro adhesive used for applying prosthetics, it's strong, safe and looks clean when the glitter starts to come off. It comes in a decent sized bottle, and I just pour a bit in a plastic cup and brush it on the stencil. I got the glimmer tattoo stencils from www.glittertattoostore.com they had really good prices around $.50 per stencil. I have found that putting the glitter on while the stencil is still on works best for me... especially when it's humid out and the glitter sticks to the skin even where there is not any adhesive.

http://puttinontheglitz.ca/shop/ is in Calgary.

Other than that, some theatrical shops carry SOME glitter supplies like Don's Hobby in Calgary and Shirley Potter's in Edmonton.

Where can I get refill bottles of glitter tat glitter? Most sites just sell kits of poofer sized bottles, glue, gems & stencils.

www.chitchattheclown.com sells glitter in 1/4 and 1/2 lb bags depending on color. You can email and ask for a larger size if it isn't offered, I'm sure.

Glitter is glitter... you just want to buy bulk? MOST of the retailers will sell you bulk you just have to ask.

Glitter tattoos Empty There are two kinds of Glitter...

Post by Winger1200 Mon Aug 17, 2009 11:12 am

One kind of glitter is transparent for face painting and the other is opaque for glitter tattoos and I was told never to use one for the other's use.
I just have transparent iridescent white poofer glitter I tell the kids is "fairy dust' and it goes with and finishes off all my face painting designs much to the delight of the children. They love anything that is sparkly!

Just be careful when ordering glitter and remember transparent glitter is for face painting and opaque glitter is for Glitter Tattoo use ; )

Speaking of sparkly & glitter, I did a lot of research and finally have the Glitter Tattoo set created by Jody of www.SignatureGlitter.com - I love it! The well thought professional kit comes complete with 150 stencils of my choice in groups of ten of each design, ten bright glitter colors in LARGE glitter poofers, alcohol spray bottle (no time wasting little packets), fluffy brush and a lip gloss bottle of glue. Jody's prices are more than reasonable, so I bought extras in addition to my kit. When I told a friend, Lindy (Lucky the magical Clown) about Jody's kit, she got hers last night at Carol Thurman's Jam, too!
Happy Painting,
Susan

Oops, forgot to mention the most important thing - both transparent & opaque glitters I use are cosmetic grade and the Glitter Tat glue is Latex-Free!

I bought my stencils thru Silly Farm. I've only played around with them on my family so far. I bought eletric neon pink, electric neon yellow and electric neon orange glitters but I don't like them. They are bright but look more like colored sand - no glisten like glitter.

I believe those electric neon colors are for use under black light, though I've never tested it.

Yup, they probably are UV reactive. They look nice and bright in the bottle but not much to see when applied on a glitter tatt.. .UNLESS you are in black light... then they are really cool!!
