Advanced Books or Magazines? Empty Advanced Books or Magazines?

Post by CottonKandyClown Mon Jul 04, 2011 9:56 am

I'm looking for some books or magazines that can inspire me. Not that I'm "advanced" in anyway, but I love a challenge Wink I have the Extreme Face Painting book and I think it's great. Are the Illusion or American Painter Mags good or are they just basic? Thank you all! Very Happy

I did a search, but couldn't find a topic that wasn't about basic face painting. scratch

Hi Cotton...Some of the illusion step by step books have a few challenging ones..I'm not sure on the mags..I think they are more infomational on what going on in the world of face painting,,and I really would like to subscribe also..For looking at challenging stuff.. Go and check out the GREATS work and see if you can replicate or be inspired without step by step..That could be fun..I have the tattoo johnny book on order (Argh ... ash cloud delay...) it is taking over a month!! and I have heard good things about them...
Maybe you could be really daring and look at ART works in all forms and put it onto skin... Have fun..and showus some of your inspiration !!

Illusion mag is great if you want to stretch yourself. There's a whole range from basic to the very challenging examples you could try out. Also the artists websites to look at too.

They both have "simple" and advanced designs. Great!
The first one is hard to find in English, but you can get in in Danish here http://www.saxo.com/dk/item/kreative-fantasi-masker-indbundet.aspx?utm_campaign=partnersite&utm_source=Pensum.dk&utm_medium=affiliate
There are not really important text, so it does not matter.

Wow! That might be the the prettiest lion-butterfly I have ever seen! I've probably only seen 3 or 4, but this one is amazing!

Yes, the first is around ten years old, but the work inside is still looking amazing. Nick and Brian Wolfe is in the first one and Desiree Shupe in the second, if you need any more reasons to get a copy ;-)

Also in the first book April Powell, Stephanie Dalvit, Kahlil Caeser, and Melanie Siedsma the second booth has the Bruce Collins - all noteworthy artists - of course there are many more worth noting too, but these are all USA painters I've met and who work I admire.
