trying to stay awake - and having a festival tomorrow
Here it is, 2:15-ish a.m., and I'm in the middle of making Lime Pickles!!!
Obviously, SOMEONE (me) misread my in-laws directions... and have painted myself into a very vinegary corner!
24 hours soaking time - er... I thought it was 14 hours... I should practice my writing skills.
So, at the 14th hour, I called to tell her (MIL) that I was well on my way... she gave a (to my way of thinking) a wicked laugh and said, "Oh, no... you've got ten hours more to go in the soaking department"...
which wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't push me to this stage so late at night.. *twitch*
I have a total of four runs.... I'm trying not to fall asleep while knowing that I NEED sleep for tomorrow. I have to set up before 11am... 45 minutes away... though the festival doesn't start until 5pm..
Stop by the bank, (because I ran out of checks... ugh) and then go to pay the lady that I have sit with my grandmother.. drive back home, pick up the mail/tattoo order that I made, then drive back to check on my son who is spending the night with his grandparents before making it back to the (small) festival.
And, it's storming. yea for me.... I hope that it stops before tomorrow!
sleepy yawn
Oh, well... on the 'glass is half full' side of things - I'm going to have a LOT of pickles !
My sinus' are clean as a whistle (though I may smell like a pickle while painting faces tomorrow and Saturday.. *L*)
Let's not forget the kittens my husband brought home.. STILL bottle feeding... every 3 to 4 hours now...
ah, the life... *grinning*
So - wanna pickle?
off to stir

synnie, it's a thought!
colden, you soak the sliced cucumbers in lime/water for 24 hours, then make a syrup of apple cider/sugar/salt and let set for 3 hours... then, bring to a boil, and let simmer for 30 minutes before putting into jars.
It's labor intensive.. but.. DELICIOUS!
They're sweet, yet tangy... not sour like dill pickles... more of a tang with sweetness.
Kind'a like bread 'n butter with no spices and more tang.
grin
Wish ya' lived near by, I'd give you a quart or five! *L*
Gotta go set up...

Okay, so there's no pickling spices at all? I think I love the sound of these. Mmmmmmmmm
Have you tried those 5 hour energies shots? They don't work for me but the guys at the overnight gig I did last night swear by them. I'm a coffee and coca-cola girl myself (last night I said coke and they looked at me funny, I thought I'd clarify with the soda this time! lol).
I guess they work better than Red Bull without all the side effects.
Good luck!

I'm such a sour girl I'd probably LOVE them. {{salivating}} I love just putting cucumbers in vinegar, oil and a little sugar. My husband makes fun of me because I eat lemons (bad for my teeth)...and my granddaughter prefers pickles to apples. What have I done!
