Got called for a Free Space at my local Arts & Craft Fair

I was just booked to do an Arts and Craft Fair at a Convention for free and they are letting me charge for full faces and donations for a small design. Has anyone ever done this. Its my first time.

as in whatever they want to pay for small designs? or as in they get the money from small designs? either way sounds like a crappy day of nothing but cheek art to me

They pay me a donation for cheek art yeah basically anything I can charge full faces whatever I want to. They have lots of kids there.

if it were me id do it as long as i could at least make back the cost of paint and a lil extra ....just my opinion

is it by any chance in kissimmee? I thought about doing that, but its pretty far for me.. and i dont really like doing cheek art..

No Tracy this one is in Lakeland at the Civic Center and yeah they asked me for Kissimmee too but it was to far also I will let you know how it works out its not until July 16&17 they are still looking for Kissimmee if anyone is interested.

LillyW says doing something is better than sitting home and doing nothing. As long as you make some money and aren't missing out on something else, then why not?

If you really can charge anything...What I usually charge is 8.00 full, and 5.00 for half.

I would keep the cheek art (for donation) pretty simple, and just push the full and half faces. For me if it covers both eye's its a full (because I end most of my masks above the mouth, so they don't mess it up when they eat or drink). I also try to make half look appealing with a few quick swirls and tear drops on the other eye. They almost never choose cheek art.

I just realized I'll be in colorado when the one in kissimmee is going on, i guess that makes pondering if its really to far for me easier lol.. be sure to tell me how it goes!!!!

I went to check out the farmers market I will be painting at this summer. It is 2 blocks away from the beach in a nice strip mall. The area is surrounded with boutiques and other eclectic artsy shops and bistro cafes. The person who runs it is letting be there weekly for free and I charge what I want and don't have to share anything

Can you get back to them and say all cheek art $1 - or $2.....? it will stop them trying to tip you 25c or something.
Otherwise... good deal.... my full faces always outsell anything small I do just because of their wow factor.
Try offering mustaches for a dollar they are always a hit!

I had never painted a mustache before until i did this party and the dad wanted me to make hime look like Pancho Villa. Apparenly he was known for his mustache

Good luck! I think it's great to book a convention because of the volume! I've got a smaller event this week and told them I would have simple cheek art designs for donation but charge for the other cheek/full face designs. Hopefully this works out. I just need to get out there because I am just starting and I agree that doing something is better than nothing.
