What was I thinking????? I should have my head examined...We DID It!!

I have booked 3 parties for this coming Saturday. I have never done 3 parties in a day, and I guess I should preface I don't do 1 hour parties. I did once as a promotion but you had to live within 5 miles of where I live. I have (2) 2 hours parties and (1) 3.5 (possibly more) hour party. All parties are 2 or more services. So while it will be a bang up day money wise, we are gonna be T_I_R_E_D. For the first time Joel is coming to work with Angel and I to do his magic. I guess he got tired of his sister making all the money.... lololol

He is excited and I am excited for him, even moreso that he wants to be part of the business.

We'll see how it goes but I doubt I will attempt to do this again. 2 doable....3 just plain crazy

Gotta make sure I have plenty of emergen - C on hand and water and snacks for the kids. I am gonna owe them big for giving up their entire Saturday.

wow..3 jobs in 1 day!....I'm very happy having 3 in 1 month! but then again..it's just an aside thing for me! I don't need to make a living with this..(already have another parttime job)

Oh you will have so much fun!!!! I had a similar experience two years ago 3 in one but thank god they were all separated apart at least 1 hr of rest in between and driving back in forth was a pain. Have a very exciting day and lots of FUN!!! CONGRATS!!! Blessings your way : )

I've done 3 in one day before.... my concerns are more about time in between than the exhaustion.... I can push myself through on adrenaline, but I can't stand being late. I was 10 minutes late for one of my parties that day and I wanted to cry because of it.

I've done three in one day a couple of times ... each time I SWORE I'd never do that again. Then I'd go and do it again. But the last time I did it I REALLY really swore I wouldn't do it again... and I haven't... yet...

For me it was a morning event, afternoon birthday, evening theatre...

I've done 3 events in one day before. It was tough, but we managed! I felt like I couldn't move the next day, though. It was a 3 hour event in the morning, a 1 hour birthday party (balloons only) in the afternoon and a 3 hour event in the evening. Whew!

3 in one day has happened to me before on a few occassions.. the problems only arise from:
A: remembering to bring enough fresh water for painting
B: having time to get from one party to the next
C: remember to EAT at some point during the day!

good luck, bring a fresh change of clothes too!

Girl, you are crazy!!!!!! But i'm sure you will be able to handle it...Just remember to have fun and not to stress and enjoy all the extra money!!!

Thank you Thank you All for the supporting words. Like Michelle this is also a side business for me too. I love being an engineer, but I wanted something of my own, you know what I mean???? I am putting alot of time and effort into it now to take it to the next level, and really establish my clientele so I can bring my sister in to eventually run the day to day.......and hoping that when Angel and Joel are old enough they can begin to play a bigger role.

Shannon I will probably end up doing just like you said, I'm never doing this again, only to turn around and do it again.... lolol

Perry fortunately I will have at least an hour in between each event and the locales are pretty close in proximity to each other.

My biggest concern is the final party is an 8th grade graduation party with about 100 guest, so the clients may want us to stay even longer than the 3.5 already booked. Now if I was by myself....sure no problem but I know Angel and Joel may be running out of steam by them. Then again maybe not because the party will be with kids their age.

You'll be fine. The adrenaline will keep you going. The drive home from the last
party will be hard. All you want to do is collapse into a heap. Make sure you drink enough
water. You don't want a headache creeping up on you.

I got 4 bookings on the Saturday of the last halloween weekend. I started at 11am
at a car dealership (3 hrs), on to a supermarket (3hrs), staff at a pub (1hr) and finished
off with two 2hr night club bookings (the first was early for the teenagers with no alcohol and the 2nd was the normal night club hours. I was exhausted. Luckily my husband, bless him, drove
me to the night club, 1hr away, in our camper van. I was able to lie down between bookings and then he drove me home. Thank goodness. Irish roads when you're tired at 1am is not a good
idea.

I just realised I did 5. It must have left me a little light headed.

I had 2 bookings on the Friday and 1 on the Sunday (the Monday was a public hol).
Believe me, I've never EVER been that busy before or since.

I will not book three gigs in a day..... I will not book three gigs in a day...... I will not.... oh ok maybe I'll do it just this one last time.
At the end of it your body will ask you why you insist on torturing yourself!
Good luck..... I always have trouble cleaning out my kit between gigs if I don't make it home...... and the change of clothes is and awesome suggestion!!

Oh heck, I forgot about Halloween!!! That's a completely different kettle of fish...

Last Halloween I started on Friday night doing several faces at my home, then Sat at 8 a.m. I was at a local haunted house to paint their staff and creatures before they opened at 11 a.m., then home to paint NON-STOP until about 10 p.m. (appointments booked and then walk-ins and friends tagging along), then Sunday I had two appointments in the a.m. then a 3-hour birthday booking at a local hall, then back home to more appointments....

Exhausted doesn't cover it... I was getting calls Sunday but was turning them down as I just couldn't lift my arm anymore. I think I made about $1300 over the three days.

Good Luck! This weekend I have done the crazy thing, booked to parties an hour away from each other an hour apart..... didn't really think about parking, setting up or down, :S Luckily the second party is someone I know and she will be forgiving if I am late.

I wouldn't have booked myself so solid but people called last minute so I tried to accommodate between other appointments and then the booked appointments brought along a couple of friends who wanted to be painted too, etc, etc.

I love painting adults so I just let them keep coming... but man, it was tiring... I'm getting to old for this sh*t.

I couldn't imagine doing that much in one weekend Shannon!

Congrats! I've done 3 jobs in 1 day several times & once I did 3 jobs & got hired for a 4th at the last one.... We were very pooped by the end of the day but made over $1000(I think it was like $1200)

The though of the $$$ at the end of it keeps ya going!

That's what I am thinking about Shannon. This will be one of those over $1000.00 days.

Hmmmmmm perhaps booking 3 gigs in one day isn't that bad afterall.

Wow Shannon! I am actually looking forward to those kind of days!!! Haven't had any more than 1 booking in a day... Since my business didn't offically start until around a year ago, I don't have that kind of clientele yet... But soon!!

I would say to my fellow FPer's try to find ways to bring up what you do no matter where you are. It may sound a bit silly but I can't tell you how many times I have mentioned what I do and someone says hey??? you know I have been looking for someone for xyz event.

Just yesterday I stopped by the bank to deposit a check and a lady complimented me on my natural hair because she'd just gone natural.......

I spun it right back to what I do saying....... you know with all the facepainting events I do it is so much easier to not have to worry about my hair. She says OMG I was looking for a FPer to do my kids party next month, are you available??

You never know where you next gig will come from. Don't be afraid to strike up conversations or venture out of your normal comfort zone and do things you might not normally do.

Look at it this way, by doing so it can't get you any less gigs than you are presently doing....only more so it's worth a shot

oh and always go for the upsell on services, I mean that is if you do more than just FPing.
