PPF Set Up Question
So I'm doing my first Pay-Per-Face event in a few weeks and I'm sortof stumped on how to set up the "choices". Right now, I have two books with lots of pics in them that I use for birthday and private parties. I also have 1 large cork board that I have about 22 photos of faces that take me 4 minutes or less to paint... I've been bringing that on an easel to events where I'm hired to paint patrons, but they don't know how many... it keeps me at about 20 per hour. But I'm not sure what to do for a PPF.... should I make more boards that show all of my designs by price (I probably have around 75 options if I show everything I offer (all 8 minutes or less). I have all my pics named with either Full or Half so that I can easily charge two separate prices. It would probably take about 4 big boards to display all the options, which means I will need 3 more easels and 3 more cork boards. (I use push pins and 4x6 photos to make these). Or do you have any other suggestions for displaying pics? I'm not sure I want to spend money on having posters made and mounted because then it's hard to switch out pictures if I want to update my selection. I am considering it, but wanted to see if I could get other suggestions before I decide which way to go. Any advice would be appreciated.
Re: PPF Set Up Question
We made a list of some ideas. Also, Perry made 2 banners from Vista Print with some $5 choices and a banner with some $10 choices. We also had a few posters with about 12 designs. Each design can be make into a $5 or $10 face. So, when asked what the prices are, I say $5 for a half face and $10 for a full face. Then if they want examples of some designs, we show them the banners.

Re: PPF Set Up Question
I have laminated pictures, about 30 or so. Too many and it becomes overwhelming for them to make choices quickly. They are displayed on a "pocket" board. They pick the photo up and bring it to me, I paint it, my hawker or the parent puts it back.
Our prices are by how much of the face is covered eye, half mask and full face. That makes it easy for people to follow.
Books are good. We use them for henna and for some of the glitter tats but they can hinder progress as well since only a couple people can look at them at a time, which isn't conducive to line speed.
Have fun!

Re: PPF Set Up Question
I think it depends on your style as well. Are you in 'artist' mode, or making money mode? If you want to be artistic and stretch your wings so to speak and have lots of selection, that is fine, but this past event, I tried what a few other very successfull PPF'ers say they do, and I used 6 girl designs and 6 boy designs. I was in money mode. I doubled what the artist working with me made because she was taking request and doing different things. I undertsand those who say they get bored painting Spidey 53 times in a row...but at $8 each...I'm fine with it...it is food on my table. I can test the creative waters during practice or birthdays. And I don't use different price levels. All faces are $8 (or whatever the area will bear) If someone specifically asks for 'something little' I MIGHT cut a deal for a little less, but it depends if there is a line or not. Some events, I'll pull out the bigger boards because I am in artist mode those days, but when it comes down to it, I am there to make money and most of the time, the kids will choose the 12 designs I bring anyways, I'm just speeding the process up by eliminating the extra 'stuff' they look at on the board. Just my .02

Re: PPF Set Up Question
This is what I used at my last event, feel free to use it if you want...
And then I used a tri-fold display board from Walmart and printed out pictures and stuck them on. I then used color coated stickers from Walmart and color coated the corners. I had them alllll mixed up and for the most part everyone picked full or half face.
Hope this helps.

Re: PPF Set Up Question
So here is another question, how do you clarify full face vs Half face? Like, where do you draw the line? above the nose? below the nose? on the chin?
I know it seems silly Lol, but Saturday I had a hard time getting people to pay more than $5, that really seemed to be their comfort zone, though I didn't do alot of bigger things, there were a couple when I was doing them I was thinking "this is so worth more than $5" lol

Re: PPF Set Up Question
I would limit the choices. I only ever bring a dozen or so and even with that number some kids have a hard time picking. The one thing during PPF that seems to eat up my time (it adds an extra minute per face!) is that the kids don't know what to calla design- or else they don't want to say it. So they drag me out to the display board to point. I need to have a smaller display with all my designs on that they can point to while sitting in my chair. Maybe one of those plastic trading card display sheets will work.
Re: PPF Set Up Question
I know some people have a chart
Down the side: $5, $10, $15, $20
Across the top words: Tiger, Butterfly, Princes, Pirate, etc.
Then, on practice sheets, you do 4 tigers. A simple one or $5, all the way to an elaborate one for $20
Each one goes into a plastic sleeve (page protector), so you can switch is all out.

Re: PPF Set Up Question
this weekend for our big festival, sometimes they'd ask for exactly what was on the banner examples and sometimes they'd just say unicorn or kitty cat and we'd say, "are we doing a $5 or a $10 one, mom?" And adjust the size from there. I like having the example banners because they are colourful and give the children a real idea of what it will look like on their face.... sometimes it gives them an idea for something that they had never even thought of.
