Wine, grapes, cheese?
Ok, the grapes I can probably figure out myself
I got a call today from a woman who's going to the Okanagan to do a wine run, and mentioned something about needing costumes?
Anyway, she asked if I could twist a tray with a bottle of wine on it - plus glasses, grapes and cheese. I don't think she realises how bulky balloons can get - or maybe she wants a huge tray?
Does anyone have any (smaller) wine bottle and/or wine glass designs? The race is on a Sunday, so they're leaving Saturday morning - meaning I'd have to make it late Friday night or early Saturday morning - knowing me, I'd go with Friday, so it would have to be able to last over 24 hours until race time...so not keen on using 160's for the glass stem...double stuffed maybe?
She said it was a 10k...when I asked her if she was going to hold it upright the entire time she said yes, but they're only balloons so they're light, right? I told her that yes, they are light, but even if you were going to run 10k just holding your arm up by itself, you'll still get tired - and that's only your body weight!
I told her I needed to brainstorm and would see what I could come up with for a handheld piece - or a headband or bracelet. I said something would likely be between $20-50 and she said that was fine, so now I've got to give it a think!
Any by that, I mean think and ask you guys, haha.

Re: Wine, grapes, cheese?
that's perfect... just came across this thread and I was totally going to suggest a hat! Great job!
Re: Wine, grapes, cheese?
Thank you! It's not perfect, but overall I'm pleased.
Oh man, you have no idea how much I've been stressing over this - I only started playing around on Sunday night, but I'd been wracking my brain since I got the call. I came up with nothing usable Sunday, except the tray, and nearly had a meltdown with the bottle and glass - I could not BELIEVE I was getting stumped by wine! I nearly called her to admit defeat...
At any rate, I emailed her the photo this afternoon and quoted her $35. Haven't heard back from her, and if I don't, that's okay - it still feels good to meet a challenge!

That was great! I like the wine, haha. Nice idea! I wanna see more of your balloon art! Keep on posting them! Thanks for sharing anyway!
Re: Wine, grapes, cheese?

Re: Wine, grapes, cheese?
Thank you!
Yes, just as I'd given up (I wasn't too fussed; she wanted them for the morning of a very busy day) she emailed and said she wanted to order TWO, for herself and the friend she was running with!
The night before, I spent cursing, haha. Recreating is tricky, sometimes. Anyway, after reruns of Reba and a floor of discards, I ended up with two wine headbands. She comes and picks them up and takes them out to her friend, and I hear, "Oh! I LOVE it!" and off they drive.
I ended up getting a lovely message from her the Monday after saying that while they didn't win a prize, they got great comments and people loved them - AND the balloons were still in good shape! (I was worried for a while about driving on the Coquihalla with the air pressure changes.)
SO relieved to have that one behind me, haha. We'll see what the next challenge is

That is awesome work Kristal.... I can't wait for Angel to see this. Something she can aspire to do.
Re: Wine, grapes, cheese?
Very creative and great job with coming up with something on the fly that worked for the job!
