Kyrolan Aquacolor
I just ordered my first Kryolan anything. It is the Teal Aquacolor and I have used it once and it seems to stain- BAD. I do not normally stain at all with wolf, Tag, or DFX. Is this normal for this brand. I like the colors but will not use it on a child. I put one stroke on me then wiped it off and it stained. I tried the soap and the lotion and I still have a strong stain. Did i do something wrong or do they just stain more? Help
Re: Kyrolan Aquacolor
Hmmm... Mine always stained less. Mine is pretty old though. We have a professional sports team that the Kryolan teal matches perfectly so I've used it quite a bit without any problems.
Re: Kyrolan Aquacolor
Have you used Teal before in the other brands? I have given up on teal all together, they all seem to be terrible.
Re: Kyrolan Aquacolor
I have only used snaz teal and it is fine. I was going to buy DFX ( cause I love that like) but was placing a sillyfarm order for Glitter tats and they dont carry DXF so i was looking for a different teal
I painted 3 hearts on my arm then immediately washed the small 2 off. this is what I get. It was on maybe 30secs!

Re: Kyrolan Aquacolor
What kind of soap? Try a glycerin based (like Pears).
I always stain with greens and blues - Snaz and Kryolan and Wolfe and DFX and Grimas - and don't even try teals on myself.
But the Pears soap and Reef Botanicals Purity soap take it off.

Kryolan is no worse nor better than any other brand with lingering but different people have different colours that linger... not sure why.

Re: Kyrolan Aquacolor
Michelle - I've personally found that different people stain with different colors, and that the areas aren't consistent. For example, it doesn't matter what colors I use on my face, it comes straight off. If I paint my hands, it comes off semi fast. When I painted a dragon on the inside of my arm for practice, the black I used (on top of other colors) stained for 24 hours. When I was a newbie I tried to practice on my thighs: they were stained for 48 hours.
Not sure why, but I'm guessing it has to do with the amount of oil in different areas? Any science-y types on here with a more comprehensive answer?
Although it sounds counter intuitive, try painting on somewhere other than your arm and checking if you still stain.
As a side point, I saw a blog somewhere that said nail polish remover can also remove stains but I've never tried that and I can't find the link right now.
Tra - congrats!

Nail polish remover works on PRACTISE HEADS! Not recommended for skin.
Like I said, I get most of the staining off of myself with a washcloth and Pears or Purity soap... ahem, HOWEVER, I once had mean blue eyebrows for four days...

Re: Kyrolan Aquacolor
My face and arms dont seem to stain. I have about 6 different blues (1 wolfe, 3 dfx, 2 Snaz) and non stain. I have a few different greens and non stain. I dont seem to stain on my face or arms, the leg and the stain though. I like the colors but didnt want to waste more money on them if they stain that bad.
Re: Kyrolan Aquacolor
Blues, greens including teal stain on me . . . any brand! Also metallic purple in DFX.
Ambah OBrien uses lots of Kryolan - I recommend you ask her about her experiences . . . she has a website and you can contact her through that.

Re: Kyrolan Aquacolor
I have paradise teal and it stains something FIERCE. I use baby powder under it and it helps... but I have to use a LOT more paint.
I have found that it won't stain if you put a light base.
If I don't have baby powder I will use some silver as a base and just put it on lightly around the area where the teal is going to be.
THe sheerness looks pretty and it doesn't stain hardly or at all

Most greens stain me to some extent. I usually put a base of silver under it. It works like a barrier & prevents staining. Also a little foundation helps.
Re: Kyrolan Aquacolor
The other day when I put the Wolfe bro's Xylomorph face on, I used DFX light blue for the center. I wasn't even thinking and it left a crazy imprint of that beast on my face! I knew that certain blues, greens, turquoise would stain but guess I forgot! I'll try the silver thing next time ,Linda
Re: Kyrolan Aquacolor
two things -
1. put a silver base
2. use olive oil. The olive oil has never not worked in removing stains... for me anyway.
