SoCal Jam Photos Today
We had our monthly jam in Montclair (SoCal) tonight. About 25 painters, a vendor, tons of models.
Here are a few photos.

The art is just my stuff. I am teacing two jewel classes at FABAIC, so I did a few things with jewels ...

Re: SoCal Jam Photos Today
Lilly you all look like your having so much fun. It's too small an area where I live to be able to have a jam like this. The energy that fills the room must be awesome!!
Love the jewel designs you did too stunning. I really love the dragon dagger.
Thanks for sharing.

MAN that looks like a great time! Wish we had something like that here! Being in a larger area probably means more compatition, but with events like this, I thinking the skill levels shoot up everytime! These sort of things are always just the best answer to inspiration jumps! Makes me sooo excited for FABAIC! Can't wait to see ya in action!
Re: SoCal Jam Photos Today
Hey Lilly,
It was great seeing you yesterday -- so fantastically inspiring.
I looove your necklace and wish I had arrived earlier so that I could watch ;-) It is absolutely gorgeous!
Kim -- Indeed the jams are great -- I love the collaboration! The only frustration is that there is so much to do, so little time so I need to clone 3 of myself for jams -- one of me to practice, one of me to watch and one of me to network :-D I hope to be able to get more painting practice in elsewhere in the future so that I can spend more time watching...
This one was a good balance though, I got to practice some new designs (my first Hello Kitty) and got feedback on a mask, I got show a quick design to a couple of painters and another painter showed me how she does her one-stroke dragon -- so there is a lot of nice sharing and collaboration going on. I'm so grateful to Lilly for starting this fantastic jam which is so well attended by so many talented painters!!!

Thank you I appreciate you.
I am teaching a class on it at FABAIC, two actually. Also, I will be jamming away every night, and will be happy to help you. The necklace I posted is REALLY easy - honest!! This gold one below.
When it is all smooth like that, it is not a big deal. I wipped that one out in 10 minutes ... well, it felt like 10 minutes, I was not timing it.
The one in my "avatar" is MUCH harder! Or, ones like this dragonfly necklace. All those little details will make you crazy! They make ME crazy!!! I really hate doing the fauceted (sp?) jewels. They are very hard for me.

Holding Jams
Mirandas wrote:Lilly's jam are the BOMB!!!!
LOL! Thank you Miranda I appreciate you.
We get that a lot about the First Tuesday Montclair Jam. But really, I do so little to make it work!
I think the secrects to a good jam are:
> VENUE. This Buffet has a big banquet room, they rarely use. Certainly not on a week day. Plus, cheap prices on good food.
> MODELS. We just walk around the restaurant an encourage people to get painted. Plus, I email my entire client list and ask them to come.
> VENDOR. I always have someone there selling product.
> NAME TAGS. I always make sure everyone has nametags on - well, I try!
> PROMO: I email my client list, and all my face painting buddies to make sure they know I want them to come.
I really do NOTHING else! I don't have games, or drawings, or anything. Although the vendor does sometimes.
Any bit of "good" you see if my artwork it from practicing. MOST of that happens at jams!
If you don't have one in your area, host one! It's not hard, and they are good fun.

Maaike, just start one, I will come if I can.
I had a few jams at my place in the winter. But I only have space for about 6 people. But if you do it in the garden there could be more.
Re: SoCal Jam Photos Today
Uhm.... in my garden there isn't much more room LOL!
It is worth a try; a lot of people I know would like a jam.
Let me think it over for a while!

Re: SoCal Jam Photos Today
You only need *two* to jam... I know I sound repetitive, but on the days when our other members don't show (quite often!) Debi and I have a BLAST. Debi and I are by far the most involved, and often we jam together and love it. NObody needs to know that most jams have more painters - the customers are always so very impressed that there are *two* of us gathered, LOL.

Re: SoCal Jam Photos Today
I don't even think I could come up with one more than me! Well, I think I'm FP with someone in June, so maybe she'll be interested. When you only have two, do you still do it at a restaurant and invite models?BarbieSmith wrote:You only need *two* to jam.
