First HUGE event
Ok, so its not really an event, but potentially it will be huge for me. I am going to do some painting this weekend at a fairly large fundraiser craft sale. Got all my paints sorted, my cakes made. Just need to pick up my water, and a canopy, and I'm ready to go.
So nervous, but very excited! Wish me luck. Unfortunately, I don't have business cards, but I will probably have a bunch of just simply made/printed ones, just so I can get my name out there. I might have no kids to paint, but I also might have scores and scores! Not sure which one I would prefer at this point.

Cool!!!! I am happy for you!!! I wish you a very prosperous event!!! Go to Vistaprint... they are really great at their pricing... and even shipping.
Re: First HUGE event
Ah yes, I was going to, actually. But I only have a few days left, so I wasn't sure if I can risk it. Well, actually only 2 days left now.
Re: First HUGE event
Oh...my gosh. Well, I was hoping to share pictures of happy kid faces that were painted by me on my first "event", but I have a different story to tell.
First of all, the whole "event" was a bit oversold to me, as it was just like 3-4 tables of people selling their old stuff. Which basically was a road-side garage sale. Which is fine, because it was a fundraiser.
I got there at around 9am. Unpacked my stuff, and then realizes - crap, I forgot my sponges! I was practicing the night before and left them out to dry. Ok, no problem, I had a couple of good sponges and a bag od shite disk-cheapies. I could just try my best.
Then I opened my paints and realized, crap - I left my brushes home! And my home is like 45 minutes away! One way. Luckily, there is a Walmart nearby, so I spent about 25$ for a bunch of various brushes.
And then...I was just basically sitting in a sun for several hours, watching my paints melt, and noone wanting to get painted. There were VANS of people with bunch of kids coming by, and not a single one wanted to paint. One girl asked me if it cost money to be painted. Umm..no , im just sitting here in the sun out of the goodness of my heart?
So, it was beyond disappointing. Not a single face to paint. Really bummed out, but in all honesty, it was really not an "event", so Maybe next time.
How do I keep my paints from melting int he sun! in a matter of minutes they became creams.

Sorry to hear about your bad day , hope you can look back and chalk it up to a learning exspiriance sp? like-checking your kit b-4 you leave. lol-I forgot my sponges last week learning to ask the right questions when booking an event -I am trying to get better at that as well, guess it comes with time(I do not have a lot)GOOD LUCK,AND JUST KEEP PAINTING
Re: First HUGE event
Sorry about the bad day with your event Dragonfly. Definitely use it as a learning experience! Have to be careful about what events to take. I've gotten extremely picky these days. Also, have a checklist to check in the morning to make sure you have all of your essentials - paints, sponges, water, brushes, mirror, glitter. Now that you have spare brushes you can keep them in your kit though. Hope the next event works out better!
Re: First HUGE event
Heh, thanks. I am not discouraged, I definitely should be more responsible
It was really funny, because I had that "world spinning at the realization of no brushes" almost movie-like moment. hehe

I also have a round chip bowl that i put ice in then set my paints on them with the lids closed, but i like the ice pack idea...may try it
