Re: Free Bodypainting
in the end i have found that is best to get yourself a nice camera and take your pics yourself. i have worked with a few photogs who will hold onto your photos for months. sometimes i have never even recieved them. this is upsetting considering the amount of time we spend on our work.
but there really isn't anything quite like a nice photo from someone who really knows all the ins and outs of a camera and the processing involved.

TRUE that. Most of the photos of my work in henna are by me. I hope the photographers/brides will get me copies, but you cannot rely on that. Same with a photographer you have never worked with. OR the release is FAR away. The bridal body paint I did for a magazine won't be released until SEPTEMBER! So the only photo I have right now is the one I took myself:
I have a canon Rebel xs that is my constant buddy!!
But I know I am NOT a photographer. It is on my list of 'things I want to learn' but I'm not there yet. Right now it's about capturing the work....I dream of being able to also capture the feeling and the moment and the movement. That is what a photographer really does if they work it and why I love to work with them!
Re: Free Bodypainting
I didnt see this mentioned so I thought I would bring it up. I did a pregnant belly with a model and got a photographer to come out. No one was paid it was advertisement for us both. She is trying to get into maternity shots more and I of course wanted body painting photos. Any way I found out that when you do something like that you can write it off on your taxes. It counts as and advertising expense. Even if you didnt charge any thing it is money out of your business towards advertising. I dont know how many of you knew this but thought I would share.
Re: Free Bodypainting
Thanks Michelle, I did not know that...I guess my only question would be how much would you write off and how would you document it? I guess just type up your own invoice?

Re: Free Bodypainting
See, that's why I married a photographer! He does exactly what I want, and if I don't like his edits, I do them myself.... tee hee hee. You all should do that too!
Re: Free Bodypainting
I was advised to just write up an invoice of what I would have charged for the service. Like I said I would fall under Advertising. This works for any free faces you do at events to get things going ect.
