A post about a good gig... with some pics.
Hidey ho,
I have been having a few beefs lately... the ups and downs of being your own boss... sooooo I thought I would post about a really good gig I had last weekend.
It was a combined b'day party for a 5 yr old and a 9 yr old - 40 kids.... 3 hours full rate.
The people were lovely, the kids were great I even recognised a few from other gigs I had done.
The parents were wowed and everyone took my cards - one parent even took the time to go to my fb page just to tell me how talented she thought I was! I got given drink and food... one guy was a pastry chef that is opening up shop up the road from where i live... so yay to that..more networking with local business.... AND I got pics of some of the kids! Win Win Win!
~~~ Recently I have decided that I will paint whatever they ask for...... even if the idea of it freaks me out a little.... ( with the exception of cheek art ... and character art like Dora or Ben Ten etc) so if the kid asks me for something out of the ordinary I can celebrate their uniqueness and give them what they want.
For this particular gig one kid wanted an Orca.... I tried the usual... "sure you don't want to be a tiger and roar at all the butterflies?" but this kid only knew one word... Orca.
ok I'm thinking.... that's like a killer whale right?..... he says nothing... I say ok here we go.
And I paint an Orca.... well I think it's an Orca... and he Loooooooooved it... the parents went wild that I actually painted it....inside I was brimming with pride that I pulled it off.
I have pulled another three jobs from that job already!
oh how I love good gigs! Even though they make all the other ones look so much worse!
Thanks for letting me share!
My computer is not liking uploading these so I'll just leave it at three... probably should have edited them first duh.....
A great big thanks goes out to our own Maggie for her wonderful reworked rainbow design!!!
I LOVE that rainbow and flower design! Shout out to Maggie (if I'm reading this right and if it was her idea. Disregard all comments from this sleep-deprived-my-kid-has-a-massive-cold corner if I've got it wrong...)
Side note, is that rainbow metallic paint or did you add glitter?
I'm totally impressed that little kid knew the word "Orca!" He can't be more than three. And Kudos to you for taking requests!! That means you're a rockstar now. So do you encourage requests? as in "ask me for anything!" or do you still bring your choice book?
Every time I get a special request it's for a particular football team and I have no idea what they are talking about!
Great job, I do love the rainbow flower design...and being able to give them exactly what they want is awesome...I hope to be at that stage one day.
