Neon Face Paint
I am looking into buying a bunch of neon face paint...
Anyone have a review about the Kryolan Day glow line? That is their neons.
Seems as though it is a lot of paint for a good price
I am hoping to keep the costs down...
In the end I plan to cut the pant up and make a bunch of split cakes

Re: Neon Face Paint
Not cheap at all on further inspection......
Kyrolan
The Neons are 1.4oz instead of the 2.5oz.
1.4oz = 40g
40g is $14
it is .35 cents a gram
Wolfe is 45g for $15
it is .33 cents a gram
I wanted Wolfe to begin with so Wolfe it is!
Stupid Kryolan with their false advertising -.-
The neons were in the 2.5oz section and it wasn't till I clicked on them that I saw that they actually come in the 1.4oz size instead
Bummer

If you're just shopping for price then check the Forum shop- once you factor in shipping it is totally the way to go! Tag (.27 cents per gram) and DFX (.32-.46 cents per gram depending on color).

I am a firm beleiver in quality over quantity. I am one of those people who will happily pay more for a better product. I have the Wolfe and D FX neons and LOVE THEM. I had a pallete of kyrolan day glows a few years ago and hated them... the coverage was just not there. Whether I used a brush or a sponge the color was either streaky or splotchy, no matter what I did... I would always have to put another coat on to make the design look right. Wolfe and Diamond FX on the other hand have much better coverage because their paint is more opaque. I get a perfect application everytime.

Re: Neon Face Paint
I have the full line of Kryolan Dayglow paints. They are great for sponging, but it takes some getting used too. It took me a while to figure out the right paint to water ratio to get a good bold base. They don't work well with a brush at all & forget using them for linework. They take a little time to dry. They will mud down your linework if not completely dry(again, they take a little getting used too. They glow beautifully under black light.
Warning: technically not meant for skin, so don't use on kids. I use them on myself & for club work.
Also, they burn like crazy if you get the paint in your eye. I've had all brands of paints in my eyes before(I even had dfx black completely cover my eye). None have ever hurt before, but the dayglows sting like crazy.

Re: Neon Face Paint
Kryolan has standard container sizes, the actual formulation of the Aquacolor makeup going to the containers makes the weights vary amongst the types. So while in the same container Dayglwo will weigh different than a Matte or Interferenz. Kryolan labels all the makeup types properly. If you look at the Kryolan site they note proper weights. It's many of the sellers who simply list the makeup as a one weight per container - that's where the mistaken advertising comes from.
Wolfe and Kryolan are both top of the line great UV neons. I use them both. To me they are apples and oranges. Both use a bit different techniques to apply based on the very different textures of the makeups, and both react different to UV lighting, and the overall environment in which, and how the wearing will be - well wearing the makeup.
Since price is an issue go with one, but do at some point try the other. As you grow in your face painting who may find a place for them both.

Loretta,
Have you found a way to use the Kryalon UV w/ a brush? I've tried & failed every time. I love them w/ a sponge.
