Party Theme Challenge!
So here is another challenge idea
I was chatting with MichelleLA and this idea came up, we would love your input
The challenge would be "party theme" based and the goal would be to come of with cool designs that fit the theme that could be painted in 5-10 minutes. Including step by steps would be encouraged (or at least written pointers on how to do the design and paints/brushes used).
We would have a list of themes of popular parties for example:
Harry Potter (from the entire series)
Super Heroes
Bakcugan
Rock Star
Mardigras/Carnival
Pirates
Tea party
80's
pokeman
etc.
The "rules" would be that the challenge stays on the same theme until there are at least 6 boy designs and 6 girl design if the theme lends itself to both genders, or at least 10 designs if it is mainly for one gender or a gender neutral theme.
Anyone can continue to add designs after the minimum but when we reach the minimum, we repost the general challenge "rules" and list of "party theme" idea in a new thread and start the next theme with the "Challenge Theme" clearly listed in the title for easy searches in the future. Anyone can add themes to the list -- the possibilities are endless.
Previously posted designs can be included, since this challenge is meant to create a resource for us to all use in the future, when the dreaded theme party is booked However, if for example, someone already posts a "batman" version for super heroes, it would be great if others pick a different super hero to tackle for the challenge unless their version is substantially different.

Re: Party Theme Challenge!
Sounds good. I say this can be April's challenge! We have 1 month to come up with as many as possible.
Re: Party Theme Challenge!
Great Idea! What about fairy themes, various holidays, Dinosaurs, Hippie, Lord of the Rings, oh... and (ugh, can't beleive I'm typing this one...) Twilight *shudders*

Oh I really like this game! What will be the first Party theme? (Oh, and aren't Bakugan and Pokemon the same thing?)
Re: Party Theme Challenge!
This sounds fun! I want to start painting more and can't wait until the first theme is set.

Re: Party Theme Challenge!
Okay, I was chatting with Michelle and she thought since the movie Harry Potter is coming out soon it should be the 1st theme, what do you guys think?
Sophie, if you ask my son he would tell you, bakugan are so last year according to him Pokemon Rules but that would change in a few months LOL

Re: Party Theme Challenge!
Don't forget Pirates, because Pirates of the Caribbean is coming out soon, too.
That reminds me, I need to contact the movie theater about painting for it.

Do you paint at a multiplex chain or at a smaller privately owned theater? Also, do you do ppf or does the theater cover the cost?
Re: Party Theme Challenge!
I'm out! I know nothing about Harry Potter. (crawling back under her Rock) lol
Re: Party Theme Challenge!
Hahaha Angela, this was Michelle's suggestions. I am probably going to get flamed but I admit it, I don't like harry Potter, I have never watched any of the movies but my kids and husband love them.
So you are not alone hahahaha

Re: Party Theme Challenge!
Tamariel, it's for Regal Cinemas and they pay me as a movie opening promotion.
I got it because I have a group here called The Mad Hatters Club. We dress up in a theme once a month and go out, just for the fun of it. We dressed up for the movie Alice in Wonderland when it came out, and I painted my face like Cheshire Cat while another member went all out at White Rabbit. We got in for free and have been hired to come in costume and paint for promo ever since. :-) It was never our intention but it worked out great!

Re: Party Theme Challenge!
Lynnie - That is SOOOOOOOOO cool! I wanna paint fawkes at a HP opening! I wonder if the multiplex here would consider a business proposition if I called them up....

I'm right there with you on this one Angela LOL!anramire2 wrote:I'm out! I know nothing about Harry Potter. (crawling back under her Rock) lol
Re: Party Theme Challenge!
I'm going to have to call all the local theaters and try to book some opening night gigs.
As for those of you who haven't read/watched Harry Potter (*shakes head). You guys don't know what you're missing.

Re: Party Theme Challenge!
Keep in mind that I didn't call, I went in with my face painted and people stopped to take out photos. Perhaps if you went in with photos of sample faces you can do for specific movies? I think it would be awesome for you all! If anyone tries AMC/Lowes theaters let us know how it goes. We have some of those around here too and I'd love to know how receptive they are! lol
What would you paint for Potter? Obviously lightning bolt and glasses, fawkes, and dragons but what else? A wizard face (white beard and glasses?). What about for girls? I've watched/read all of the Potters but I still don't know what I'd paint.

Re: Party Theme Challenge!
Well, I guess we will learn right here I know nothing, I mean...NOTHING about HP, except he wears glasses LOL
Re: Party Theme Challenge!
Lonewolf created some great designs a while back. They are in this thread if you want to check them out.
Re: Party Theme Challenge!
Honestly I don't know as much as I would like to know about Harry Potter since I only read the first couple of books and then had kids and ran out of time to read
However, Harry Potter has a huge worldwide fan base and has a history of theme parties, as opposed to some of other block buster movies that are opening. Harry Potter has a longevity where as younger kids start to read the books there will be continued interest beyond the release of the last movie.
I like the idea of Pirates of the Caribbean as well, as it is a "movie franchise" with multiple movies and the theme carries over to "everyday" pirate parties which is a party theme favorite, so perhaps we can do that as the second theme?
Anyhow -- I'm just going to start the Harry Potter challenge and we can figure out what to do next later
