Poop. I could have combined it with a visit to my sister in Vancouver... but she just ran away from home and moved to Toronto!!

Pasher is awesome, Deborah is fantastic at paint AND henna, and you have not had a henna class until you've taken it with Neeta!
Looks like a great one guys!! Be there or be square!!!!!

Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
I'm really looking forward to it! It's going to be a fantastic conference focusing both on henna and paint. There seems to be a lot of artists who transition from one to the other, and I really think this conference will benefit them/us (me!).
But it's gonna be great for beginners on up to advanced. Kristal...we are so close for you! Just a drive, and not a flight to get there Btw, I am down near Mt. Vernon, WA...if you are ever this way, give me a jingle.3
And Idaho is just a longer drive
Even think about the train. Kent Station is nearby to the venue, and Seattle's stations are not too far away.
This month we will be getting more details out about the classes and area hospitality (travel/dining/etc).

Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
The one thing I'm not keen on is that it's a weekend - I loved Vegas last year when it was during the week, and I got to take gigs the weekend before and after.
Justine, if I do go out there (with my kit) I'll let you know!!
Do you know what hotel rates are going to be and if there's a conference rate?

Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
well weekdays aren't good for people who have day jobs, weekends aren't good for people who have gigs. no winning there
the hotel rates are approx. 75/night (dbl occupancy) and 2 queen beds I believe. The link to the room rates is on the venue page of the site. There are other lodging options nearby (even across the street).
Conference fee's are in the pdf registration form available on the front page www.bigraindrop.com

Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
Weekend workers vs M-F workers are the bane of my existence. M-Fers (the ones who don't do event stuff on the side) just don't get why I can't rearrange my schedule and be free on weekends.
Anyway.
I did try to look at the PDF registration but the link isn't working, and I didn't see prices listed on the venue page (unless I missed it, rates aren't listed...and special rates aren't always listed online, hence why I asked!)

Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
That's a good point! Taking a train... I loooove train rides. I figure I'm going to jump on whatever opportunities I can afford and its a great time for in September... I hopefully will be washed out by the state fair and need a boost of creativity!
Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
If you register with the conference venue you will want to be sure to let them know you are with the conference as the $75 rate is for conference attendees.
Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
Okey dokey....
registration form is all fixed and up to download.
enjoy!

Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
Here is an update from Pashur:
I will be teaching Face Painting at the Big Raindrop Conference in Kent, WA in September, Sept 22-26.
At the Big Raindrop Body Art Conference I will be teaching 3 Face Paint classes.
1) Glitter Rocks!
2) Halloween Designs (just in time for Halloween)
3) Boy Designs!
Just one of these classes I am teaching is worth the price of admission for the conference, but you get all three! Sign up for this conference today!!!
FUNKY FUN FACES
I will also be doing a pre-class tacked onto that convention called Funky Fun Faces on Sept 22. This class will be focusing on cool effects you can do with the face, how to achieve depth using highlights and shadows to create such faces as the grimace face, cracked, shattered and slurred faces, monster faces, illusions on the face, holes in the face, etc. Only 12 people allowed in this workshop. This workshop is $125. If you attend the Big Raindrop Conference, I will give you a $25 discount, thus you will only pay $100 for my pre-class workshop.
FULL FACE DESIGNS
Every design in this Sept 26th post-class will be a cool full face design. Only 12 people allowed in this workshop. Again, $125 for the class. Only $100 if you are a Big Raindrop attendee.

Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
You know...there are local forum members with extra bedrooms for that weekend....ahem....that may be available to stay in.....cough......if you can stand dogs and a "fixer upper house." Just sayin.
We can carpool.
We will feed you.
My husband and I will both be attending.
First two responses get rooms.......

Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
Kristal...Roadtrip girlfriend!!
I totally want to go. I bet we could take a couple others with us too. My challenge is I'm one of those M-Fers now that I'm teaching at the college. I'll have to see if I can work out a couple days off. I'd love to take Pashur's pre and post classes too. I've been thinking of learning the Mehendi for awhile, so this looks like a great opportunity for that.
The best part for me with conferences like this is meeting fellow artists. I hope it works out so I can go

Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
Haha, Magna, I was thinking the same thing! Does your insurance cover henna? Mine doesn't...but it's coming up for renewal soon.
Jen - tentative dibs?!
I'm wavering because I'm planning on the Vegas convention in 2012 and this year has already been a bit pricey training-wise...but I'm seriously considering! The 26th is my brother's birthday, though, so I'm not sure if I'd stay for a post class.

Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
Yes, just not 'black' henna. What about the pre-class? I probably couldn't get away with both extra days anyway.
Jen, if Kristal and I come together, maybe I could take you up on your offer too?

Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
...so this could be doable!! $100 registration by May 1. $100 pre-class. Leech off Jen and hubby (Haha kidding. Would deff get some groceries/bring a hoard of Canadian maple syrup/stop at duty free?!). $200 + gas and product - not bad at all!
Eee!
Magna, we need to talk sometime, haha (also want to ask about insurance) - might be just a bit of a trial, but at some point soon!

Re: Big Raindrop Body Art Conference 2011
Woot! NorthWest love!!!
This is about a 2.5hr drive for me, totally do-able.
I would love to split a room with someone. I'm clean, hygenic, quiet, respectful, and fun!
Jen - should you find yourself with an extra room, I'd love to take you up on it, dogs and all. =)
