I've seen a lot of painters balance their brushes using their pinky. Me I use my ring finger, but I'm finding that I tend to drag paint more often than not. I've found their to be a significant pencil/brush grip difference between left and right handed people. So my question is how do you hold your brush? here is how I hold mine:

It just irritates the heck out of me when I drag paint everywhere. Mad

If there is anyone with suggestions I'd appreciate them.

I wish I could help you...I'm working on being able to paint with both hands and as a rightey, I'd be interested in figuring out what to do with my anchor finger as well!

I've tried the pinky thing and I think my hands are too small. It feels like I'm over flexing my fingers.

I was just about to say the same thing Linda. It would be avantageous to all you "southpaws" to go back and watch her videos...not only to visually see what she does, but distinctly remember the she makes numerous references about her being left handed and what she has to do to tackle a design and perform different brushstrokes. She has even spoken about which side of the face is more difficult for her to do.

Even though I am a "righty" I thought they were interesting tips which is I guess why I remembered them.

I am left handed and I hold my brush pretty much as you have shown in your photo. I use my pinky as the anchor. Took a bit of getting used to when I started, felt awkward but I can't imagine not doing it now. Good luck!!
