Life's like that Empty Life's like that

Post by Fabtastic Sat Jan 29, 2011 9:39 am

I have totally let everything go for the past month, and I *really* need to get myself back on track.

My first grandson was born on January 8, and of course, he is beautiful! I love you But he was born with a condition that required surgery right away and he will remain in hospital for a number of weeks - it's totally fixable and he is doing very very well. However, it means that we have spent the past three weekends out of town (he is in Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, we live just over 2 hours away). Last weekend I finally got to hold him, what a wonderful feeling!! Very Happy

But anyway, this is my first weekend at home in a while and I can't believe how much I have neglected EVERYthing!! (I haven't even taken down my Christmas tree yet!) Embarassed

I have popped in here almost every day and read a lot of posts, but I haven't painted a single thing in a month! Yikes!! I do have a party booked for next month but that's all, I have to get myself back to practicing and promoting. Oh yeah, and cleaning my house, it's a pig sty right now! pig

Congratulations on your 1st grandson! I am so happy he is doing well and that
you got to hold him!
The Christmas stuff and the house can wait, some times you have to stand back and look at the big picture, spending time with your family is what is important now and you will feel better about it later.
Sending you some practice vibes Smile

Thanks Maggie!! You are right, spending the time with my family was totally worthwhile and I am glad I was able to do it... I'm just a little overwhelmed at how much and how fast I got behind on things!!

I think part of what I'm mulling over right now is, I know I should be getting caught up on some of this household stuff... but I also want to be practicing! I may give myself practice time as a "treat" for cleaning, LOL - for every load of laundry, I will go paint for 15 minutes or something. Motivating myself to do anything at all right now is hard though, I'd much rather just relax and do nothing!

You are very welcome! My whole family lives in Venezuela so whenever I hear stories like this I want to make sure I tell people how lucky they are to be so close. It is hard for me to be away from my family but when I hear that some one got to spend time with their loved ones it makes me happy.
Wish my mom was 2 hours away.

Take it easy and yes, you should treat yourself!

One day at a time. Don't get to overwhemled or you'll just throw your hands in the air and run. Do you have a friend that might come over for a couple of hours to help prioritize? That always helps me.

Congrats on the bambino!!!! And whenever you start to look at the pile in the living room or beside the sink, remember that your friends and family come to visit you, not carry out home inspections and given the drama that has been your life, I'd imagine everyone is in the same boat! Also....here ares some slogans that may help you smile about it!!

A messy house is a happy house!
A clean house is the sign of a wasted life!
A dirty house is the sign of happy kids!
A dirty house is the sign of a lived life!
God Bless this Lovely Mess!

Thanks everyone for the good wishes! We just got home from Toronto again. It was a horrible drive - the weather was awful, we got around 20 cm of snow (about 8 inches) in just a few hours. But we made and it, and the trip was totally worth it! We got to cuddle with him for quite a while, and we got to feed him as well! Very Happy Looks like he may be coming home in a week, two at the most.

Maggie, I really feel for you. I am lucky that my kids are all within a few hours of me. My sister and my best friend both moved quite far away from me and I miss them so much. No

I've got a lot of things to work on, I really need to get my house clean so we can have a "meet the baby" open house. I did take all the ornaments off the tree, good start right, but I still need to put the tree away!! So face painting is on the back burner right now, maybe in a couple weeks I'll get back to it. But I love that I have this forum to turn to, to keep me inspired and motivated. Thank you all so much!! Very Happy

I'm praying for you! Don't worry about taking a face painting break. I took one for over a year when my dad was sick & I was his only advocate with his healthcare. I think I did 3 gigs that year & barely remember much of what happened in my life. Like I said, family comes 1st. Hugs!
