Re: practice heads
I think that is the case with all practice heads. The rubber is not real skin, so it cannot absorb the excess moisture.
Re: practice heads
That was my problem too.
I could not work with it, so I sold it again.
It was exactly the same as Metina selling

Re: practice heads
I've used that practice head tons without much of a problem. If the paint is running off of it, you have too much water in your mixture. True, it's not like real skin, but with care you can do many of the things you can with real skin. Work on your paint consistency so that it's not quite so runny, but not to thick; when you can paint a line and it stays but doesn't sit off the skin like a lump, you're there. As far as blending goes, I've found that loading my sponge with 2 or more colors allows for me to work quickly enough with the head to achieve the desired blending results. Switching back and forth between colored ends of the sponge as I blend allows the paint to remain moist and pliable enough to achieve the results I want. Also, if you're using a beeswax based paint ( DFX, Wolfe, TAG) you have to employ different techniques for blending. Do you have pictures that you can show, that might be helpful in pinpoint exactly what the problem is...
Here are a couple of things I painted on the same practice head Metina sells early last year...no problems with blending or linework at all.
