Hawaiian facepaint?
I guess it's time to get out my hula skirt
I have a birthday party for 20 girls in an hour and i need quick but pretty designs. Does anyone have any ideas? I haven't found any topics on anything hawaiian yet.

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
I do but I doubt I could post them all in the next hour as I have not done them yet!!
I wonder how fast I can decorate my arm, photo and post in my gallery? How much more time do you have??

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
Hi,
I don't have any pics on hand, I'm sure the other ladies do but try searching for Hibiscus and sunsets..... Linda put an awesome little sunset Island beach design on the "things that make me warm and fuzzy' post....
if you double load a large round with white and yellow you can make awesome looking franjipennies just by pressing the brush to make petals.
I'd say you will end up painting a lot of flowers.

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
Did you mean you need to paint 20 girls in 1 hour?
Far out..... never would i do this... it would majorly compromise my standard of work.... that's 3 mins a kid! Good luck to you, you must be a great speed painter!
The thread was called random challenge so I'm not surprised you couldn't find it with my discription... lol... my mind has a very strange filing system. Here's the link...

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
Awww thankyou so much Maggie, I really appreciate that
Actually the information I got given (from my mum) may have been wrong. Because this isnt like a full on party where I'm getting paid properly and everything. It's actually a favour for my hairdresser's girls (they are the biggest sweeties). I am just checking with the mum now how many girls there will actually be. I'm hoping ALOT less so I can do some much better designs.

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
Sounds like 15 kids will be there including the two girls who i will be doing earlier then the party. 12 in an hour should be alright I think. She only wanted quick flowers or something but of course I'd much rather do something better.
Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
HA! See, I thought you meant that you have a party to be at IN AN HOUR, not that you have 1 hour to paint 20 girls I was wondering why you would have taken the time to post if you have to leave soon, and who on earth was booking you on the day of...
Hibiscus and swirls - easy to transfer over to cheek or arm...and excuse the messy linework - blind spot

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
Yeah 12- 13 is very manageable in an hour... much better then 20!!
You could consider doing/offering something like this.......
Always popular............ and some rainbow butterflies... very fast fun and colourful... probably my most asked for design....

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
Clayton of Marvelous Masks has a nice scene that I have in my gallery (okay - I did a whole practice session around it - his looks much nicer) of dolphins with palm trees. A variation of that might be useful?

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
Wow yeahhh they are great. Actually i have a neon rainbow tag split cake, like a mini one. But for some reason the colour neverrrr comes out vibrant and beautiful like that, it always turns out washy and watery so I hardly use it. Do you have any tips ? I was thinking today of playing with some designs and incorporating a few of these kinds of things ...
And some of my previous faces (used for fairy but could be altered)

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
Pictures are great.... your fairy ones should prove very popular.... girls love their pink!
The third picture you posted is liquid bling... I wouldn't use that on young ones as they will smear it straight away.... older kids like ten or so can usually handle letting it dry.
To use the rainbow split you need to load it more then you would like... meaning you really need to load it up good I dip my 1 inch brush into the water... just the tip and begin loading... if the colors run and muddy theres too much water... touch your brush to a towel, and wie the top of the split with a wipe.... if your loading with too little water your brush bristles will split as your loading.. touch just the tinniest tip of your bristles into the water again and keep loading.
Unfortunately withe all the split cakes to get a nice effect you need to load more then you would like too, you end up holding alot of paint in your brushes, so you use them up faster then a normal cake.It kills me when I see how much washes out of the brush at the end of the day... don't rinse in between unless your brush starts to look muddy... then only do a half rinse, wipe your split and go... that way you keep wastage to a minimum. That said I only have about 5 split cakes so I can keep brushes for individual splits and not have to wash them out fully everytime.

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
Oh ffs!!!
I just wrote all of that bullsh*t and then realised both pics I posted was done with a sponge and the 50g Tag cake.... doh! Sorry.
The rainbow and flowers I do with a small split now though, just like I said above... but for the neons I like to sponge it on by dabbing instead of swiping as they do tend to fade out a bit if not put on pretty thick.
The dolphins I nicked and repainted form the snaz site.... actually I was just looking at them and I realised I did them over a year ago and my teardrops suck hardcore... time for some new pics me thinks!
Oh also the dolphins look really cute if you do them smaller and facing each other in a heart shape in the middle of the forehead and so swirls and things around it like a crown... I call it my mermaid/dolpin crown.
No pic sorry.

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
Oh wow thanks, I will try that now The last picture was kinda just an idea to use with the paints, for example the flowers and then swirls up the side of the face, because I'm not that big into putting it on top of little ones eyes as they always rub and it gets into their eyes.
Lol thats okay, I got the idea. The dolphin sounds reallyy cutee, i think i understand waht you mean actually.

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
My pleasure Elise, and Pixie Thanks so much!! I try to help where I can ... goodness knows how much I have learnt here... feels good to be able to return the favor!
Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
Well I'm pretty new and I'm sure that more people will come along with better, but I just did these but my husband called 'couch time, no more paint time - cuddles' so this was as far as I got. This is arm/cheek - I didn't get to faces, but for the theme think:
Tiki torches
coconut drinks with umbrellas
colorful angel and clown fishes (or just colorful 'fantasy' fish)
loops of flowers
surf boards
and of course...
DOLPHINS!
Here is what I did manage to get...

Re: Hawaiian facepaint?
I would do lots of flowers in tropical colours, and dolphins. Using split cakes they would be pretty quick.
I did this one and it turned out kind of tropical looking...
