I have a 5 year old boy, spiders are a favourite subject of his, thus I have got a lot of practice at spiders. So here's my spider, comments and krittersisums (see what I did there, see, see) welcome.

Wow!! Beautiful detail work! the only crittercism i can think of is maybe to use grey for the shadow.

That was what I thought too, the black wash is just a bit to heavy.

Hey Sam that's brilliant work.

I've been doing shading with a cottonbud/Qtip & really washed out grey. It works great but I am still learning the shading technique.

Sam, wow, realistic spider your boy is proud to have!

Mandi, Try shading with a weak wash of black or black dry brush for more accurate placement and highlight spiders with silver for a more realistic effect.
