It looks like a nice, compact setup. Do you have a board laid over the top of your FatMax, under the paints?

Looks great, Im going to save up and invest in a FatMax!

I just started transfering my paint from round holders to rectangular ones...more space and great for sponging!

I love it! I'm going to have to get one of those cutlery drainers for my brushes. Then I think I need to go through and cull half the contents of my FatMax.

Is the board under corflute?

The board underneath is two artists boards taped together like a game board, its all I had and its not great, its just about an inch to short lengthways and I have to bulldog clip it down. I'm going to get a bit of mdf cut to size and do the same thing. The dish drainer is great, it slots on my fatmax nicely but Im going to use a Gary Cole technique to get my brushes home, he uses a tennis ball tube with holes in the lid, so they can dry but can be stored easily.

Not every colour, lol. I only have the neon green in the neons and the berry wine on its way. Im also going to get the skin tones in the pallet as I don't use them often but it would be a nice addition. I tend to collect stuff, if I like it, slightly obsessively ....

I used snaz and derivan and then tried TAG and it just suited me better. I cant wait to try some other brands though. I would love to have tones of penny's and just get bits and pieces of everything. I think I'll have to join some swaps.

Great set-up. My suggestion is to find a container for your paints. Opening all those screw caps takes forever. I put all mine in a Mahron laptop & then bought a scrapbook paper holder for the rest. I velcro them in & leave the lids off. All I have to do is open the "laptops" & start painting.

Thats also on the list of stuff to get, I really need to cut my cakes in half but I'm terrified of damaging them, there just soooooo pretty .

dont the paints dry out if you leave the lids off?

Only if you live in an oven and store your paints there.

Actually, you want your paints to dry after each event/gig...no creepy organisms will find a nice damp breeding ground in my paints. They come to you dry and should be returned to that state nightly. Now, I'm not saying dry to the point of cracking like the ground in Death Valley...just dry enough to touch with little color transfer.

When you calculate the amount of time it takes to unscrew a lid, set it to the side, use the paint, screw the lid BACK on, then pick up the next color and do it again...and heaven forbid, you should have to go back to a color you've already used and dispatched. All of that time adds up and it is added to the amount of time it takes you to finish a face. Yes, lids can keep fingers out of your stuff, but ithey can also invite sticky fingers who see benefit in pinching an item that is packaged and ready for quick snatches. Then there's the issue of misplacing, breaking, dropping lids. Definitely get a case to put them in all together and take the lids off. I always say that if someone is going to steal from me, darn it, they're going to have to work/suffer for it...why make it easy?

Hey Sam, do you have Crazy Clarks or Sam's warehouse over there? If you do they have the document holders that fit 11 or 12 paints in them. They are only a couple of $$'s

Thanks for that, we do have crazy clarks, thats where I'll be heading to morrow. Then to that foam place for foam, then back to limelight for more paints and rinse repeat.... Tee hee.

My paints don't have time to dry out
There's enough air flow in the cases for my paints to dry properly, but not get all cracked. I also live in Florida, so everything is naturally moist & humid most the year. We're finally in our "dry" season & it's wonderful.

If I ever have a paint that gets dried out like the desert, I just ad a few drops of glycerin to my spray water & it creams them right up again(my kit gets used too often for this problem, but my daughter's kit & the kit I give to people face painting at my church get that way).

Agreed about the lids. I used to open every lid & then have to find them & put them back on. Inevitable 1/2 way through the process a child would decide they wanted to be painted. Now, I close the cases, put them in the Fatmax & "oops, sorry, the paints are all put away."

I might purchase one of these cases then. Thanks a lot

what is the white container that seems to "hook" onto the fatmax. Great set up!!

I needed to consolidate my supplies to a lightweight easily portable kit for my paints & tats, so I went from my heavy rolling artbox to Metina's Tote and clear case for a quick two minute setup!
I found the case at a thrift shop for a few bucks & I've had it for a year, unused. It was a beading case & it looked like it would hold my paint pallets, so I pulled out the covered sectioned part in the lid to set aside for jewelry organization & discovered all my face painting supplies would fit in it. I use these two now because they are more compact, lightweight and professional looking for gigs ; D

The tote holds my Brush Tube, Glitter Tat supplies, wipes, mister, water pails, camera, mirrors & 12x16" laminated Party Posters. They all fit flush in the Tote but I pulled some up so they can be seen in the photo. I stack my paint pallets in the Case lid with with a page protector of stencils beneath it.

My Cards, Jewel box & Rainbow Cake get set out to the side of my paint pallets, along with my glitter poofer, 6 GlitterMarks, sprayer & 2 small water containers. The two pouncer containers are righted right where they are in the case. I just set the case on top of a chair or table opened & I'm ready to paint. Super quick pack up, too ; D

Holds 25 sponges, 30 stamps, 15 pouncers both of my paint pallets, headlamp, assorted stencils & small supplies neatly & easy to find in their place ; )

I don't like opening paint cakes either, so these watercolor pallets I got at Michaels are my answer to time saving split & rainbow cakes that get the colors on with one or two swipes ; D
Each well holds two 18ml snaz cakes and the small ones will hold three 2ml cakes but I fill them with parts of the big cakes.

I got a case for my paints that hold 24 but it's not flush underneath them so the Velcro ideas not working as well as I would like, it has saved me time in setting up though. I am going to grab another tomorrow for the rest of my paints. I had to change the brush holder, the cutlery thing was just not working so I got two acrylic milkshake glasses and they work great. The white thing on the front is and Ikea baby item, you hook it onto the cot and can store stuff in it, it's called LÄTTSAM. My daughter can now stand up in her cot so I had to take them off but the little one is great storage for my less used stuff and it has the advantage of also making any money I have to store underneath harder to get at.

We Face Painters are a clever lot, always evolving....
