Wow! Getting busy!!
So here I am 2 months into doing this ( 1 month as a business) and I have so many gigs. I knew they would come but I had no idea this fast. It's great!
The whole reason i got involved in Face Painting was because I saw the...ahem "Face Painting" they were doing at our annual festival we call "Spectrum". After I saw what they were putting on the kids faces I knew I had seen a much higher standard and was determined to introduce it to my community.
Last month I heard that our local theater had "Max and Ruby" (tree house kids show with Bunnies) coming to perform a show for the kids. I contacted the theater's events coordinator, introduced myself and sent a sample via email of my "bunny" face. I said I could come and hour before and do a pay per face gig or they can pay me by the hour. They accepted and chose to pay me by the hour. I was SLAMMED! Most people did not know I was going to be there as there was not enough time to advertise it, so even though I started at 2:30 I didn't have my first customer until 2:55! I managed to paint 22 kids in that 35 minutes, Even with our health regulations which I was very careful with! They were really pleased and said they will contact me for future kids shows! They have "put me on the books" so to speak as a city Employee (subcontracted). Amazing!
Two days later I get a message from a member of the "Spectrum Council" (my reason for starting Face Painting) and she has asked if I would be interested in setting up a vendor booth! It's a 3 day event and weather permitted it's crazy busy! I figured the painters they had last year would have a permanent spot and thought it may be a while before I can get in.....but here it's not even October 2010 and they want me for June 2011!! Fantastic!
What a confidence booster to have all of these people either contacting me or being really pleased with my work. Yiiipeee!!

That's wonderful news. Folk aren't completely stupid (contrary to some of our experiences here), they can tell quality. Kid's aren't fooled either by the way

Re: Wow! Getting busy!!
This is the bunny I did. Very simple but effective and the kids were so thrilled! This particular picture is not from the actual day and the only thing it is missing is the pink in the ears. And I left out the eye shadow at the event as it is one extra step that wasn't needed. I had a real pattern going so I was able to get 'em in and out fast! To be honest...even I was impressed with my time!
