some pics for you all :)
I put my kit on my front lawn and guess what happened? LOL, it was fun painting all the kids. I need a lot more practice with line work! I did these in 3-5 minutes each. The first 2 are my little girls If you are new(ish) to painting, please try these out - they look detailed but they are not really hard, you can do them if I can!
Warm regards,
Barbie
ps: my flowers look lousy, I never like them. I use a Kolinsky sable brush (which I adore), but somehow it is not good for flowers, eh? Any input? Also, it is my first attempt at a unicorn head... that one will sort itself out, I think, just need to practice it...
ps: the first was done dry in Starblend (white) and Ben Nye Lumiere (NOT MagicCake!), with DFX/TAG black lining. All the rest are TAG and DFX (wet, of course).

They look great!
For flowers, try making them fan out at the edge. Then do the linework.

Re: some pics for you all :)
Do you mean with a flat brush? I can do that, it just seems to take more reloading.... I was trying to do them with my #6 synthetic round, just making 5 or 6 teardrops that meet in the middle. But they look awful. I think I will keep practicing, but until I get better I will take your advice and use a flat brush with the one-stroke technique. Yours have so much depth!

Awesome paintings!
I'd just keep practicing those flowers, I do those flowers all the time, usually loading the brush in white and dipping the tip in a colour. I try to keep my petals from touching, I think I use a number 4 round brush for mine.
Sometime they look wonderful and other times they are dreadful.

Yes, a 1" flat brush for the flowers.
For the delicate petals I use a #4 round. Don't lay it flat or pull the brush(like you do for tear drops. Just go straight in w/ the tip & press(I hope this makes sense).

Great job! And good idea setting up outside your house.
With my flowers I use a large round and load white or another light color, I then touch the tip of my brush on a towel and then load a little yellow ( for Frandjipenny)(sp?) or purple or whatever. Then I just pick another size round and another color combo.
hmmm this picture is a couple months old and my flowers are better then that now.....
funny how critical we get of our own work huh?

But your model is adorable... and I like your flowers!
I know... I'm my worst critic. I was putting a board together for a PPF event I have tomorrow & was wishing all my pics looked like what I do now

I love them, thanks for sharing! On the flowers, you're right, it's just the brush. I use a Kolinsky too, but have to switch to synthetic for flowers. The kolinsky doesn't fan out enough for a good petal.

Oh my gosh -- these look great! Thanks for sharing!
I'm new and there is no way I can do these in 3-5 minutes.... I'm too slow
p.s. my new avatar is the first time my daughter (27 months) let me paint on her face ( a Daizy inspired butterfly) so I may have myself a model soon -- if only I can paint fast enough to finish before she smudges it or says "no more"
