Ideas for painting the birthday child...
I am not happy with my offerings so far. I always try to use a jewel if it is a girl, and do many more "horns" for the birthday boy. I am not sure it is enough - I really want to WOW the birthday child and let them stand out!
Here are some more ideas I had: more little jewels (not too much of a good thing, you know!), birthday cake and balloons on face (did that a few times, do not like my designs - too amateurish!), buying a felt birthday cake hat for the child (sunglasses would be too cumbersome), painting other body parts too (arm or leg if wearing short sleeves, or "paws" if they want an animal or monster design).
Anything else you can think of? If you have any designs you would like to share, I would be so appreciative! I really think the birthday child should totally STAND OUT on their special (and not to mention that their parent is usually paying, and I want to provide an "extra" value to them!).
Cheers,
Barbie

I think that extra bling for the birthday girl and painted paws for the birthday boy are great ideas.

Re: Ideas for painting the birthday child...
I give the birthday child a premium face... princess for girls with feather boa, tiara, glitter gel in a pink organza drawstring bag and lots of glitter and stick-on jewels.... for the boys I do a pirate face with a pirate hat or bandana, plastic hook for the hand, gold clip on plastic earring and a black velvet drawstring bag with gold coins I have it all on hand because I do princess and pirate parties with those items. You could do a more scaled down version and just have some feather boas, or glitter gel for the birthday girl I make my own glitter gel for them so it's more cost effective.
Re: Ideas for painting the birthday child...
I usually say they are the only ones that can have that design. If its a butterfly face, then I make it the best I can with all the bling and works, etc.. another girl can have a butterfly but not the same color and not with the same WOW factor. Ditto witht he boys.
Re: Ideas for painting the birthday child...
I just give them what they want & really give the design all the bells & whistles. More highlighting, shading, bling, etc... unless it's a party for a 1 yr old
I get a lot of parties where I'm there to entertain all the cousins & siblings as it's a big deal for babies 1st bday in many cultures.
